At Cakebread Cellars, we take pride in recognizing an employee each quarter who embodies our core values, which have been shaped by the Cakebread Family and the #CakebreadCrew over the past 50 years. The Employee of the Quarter Award honors individuals who consistently exemplify these values through their professionalism, outstanding performance, and commitment to teamwork, working together as one heartbeat. This quarter, our team is excited to recognize Alli Jones, our dedicated Viticulturist. Alli has gone above and beyond throughout this harvest season, showcasing remarkable commitment and enthusiasm. We are incredibly grateful for her hard work, positive attitude, and the way she steps up to every challenge with a smile. Thank you, Alli, for all that you do!

September is Employee Appreciation Month, and we are incredibly grateful for our dedicated #CakebreadCrew. To celebrate their hard work, we planned weekly treats as a token of our appreciation, reminding them how much they mean to us. We kicked off Employee Appreciation Month with a pancake breakfast, where our Executive Team served up pancakes for the #CakebreadCrew. Mid-month, we beat the heat with shaved ice from Old School Shave Ice and enjoyed a coffee boost from OHM Coffee Roasters. To close out the celebration, we treated everyone to a delicious lunch from The Wurst, reminding our employees that they truly are the best. We could not do what we do without them, and it was a joy to celebrate their hard work all month long. Cheers!

Creating a culture of belonging means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, feels heard, seen, and valued for their unique contributions. Through Share & Tell, our #CakebreadCrew has the opportunity to share their passions with the Cakebread Family by teaching their colleagues something they love. We are in our second year of hosting Share & Tell, and it has been an amazing journey filled with learning and fun! This year, we have enjoyed a presentation on the history of the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in San Francisco, an iPhone photo editing class, South African Line Dancing lessons, and a plant propagation session. We are excited to keep this tradition alive and cannot wait to discover more of our employees' passions!

Cakebread Cellars' 51st Harvest is officially underway! We kicked off the season with a special pre-harvest BBQ lunch, prepared by our talented winery chefs, Brian, Josh, and Jose, to welcome our new harvest interns to the #CakebreadCrew. Our winemaker, Niki Williams, proudly introduced each member of our production team. On August 15th, we brought in our first grapes—Sauvignon Blanc from Blocks 5 and 6 at the Home Ranch. We’re excited for another harvest season and to have our new interns on board. Big thanks to our entire team! Cheers!

Cakebread Cellars continued celebrating our Belonging theme this summer with a fun-filled Field Day for the #CakebreadCrew. Our employees formed five teams: Team Sauvignon Blanc, Team Chardonnay, Team Rosé, Team Cabernet, and Team Pinot Noir. These teams competed in various races, including a water balloon toss and an egg and spoon race, along with a puzzle and riddle challenge to keep the competition lively. Costumes and cheers were encouraged, and everyone came ready to win. While Team Cabernet won first place, the real victory was shared by all. This event was a fantastic way to celebrate DEIB and our employees’ hard work before we kick off harvest!

Cakebread Cellars celebrates and brings an understanding of the importance of belonging during July and August. Our DEIB council finds it to be an essential component for all employees to feel like they belong. Our DEIB council held our second annual employee Scavenger Hunt! This was a great opportunity for the #CakebreadCrew to meet and collaborate with other departments to solve the clues and riddles. From discovering plants in the garden to taking selfies with the ‘owl’, we learned more about the winery and secrets of the buildings! It was exciting to see the friendly competition and participation from our employees. Cheers!

Since the summer of 2004, Cakebread Cellars has upheld the cherished tradition of hosting an annual summer picnic for our employees and their families at our Foster Road Vineyard. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for employees to connect with each other's families. As a family owned winery, we know how important it is to celebrate not just our hardworking team but also those who support them outside the winery. This year, we were delighted to have over 60 employees and their loved ones join us for the picnic. Cheers to our amazing #CakebreadCrew and two decades of this beloved tradition!
