Born from a graduate school assignment, Shayla, Senior Strategist at BX Brand Experience Design Group | An IPG Health Company, has been creating illustrations for the “100 Black Queens Project,” and sharing via the project’s Instagram account, for over seven years. Her illustrations now depict over 250 inspiring women and their stories. “The 100 Black Queens Project is about empowerment, vulnerability and sharing your true self with the world. I wanted to connect with and share the stories and voices of self-identifying Black women and girls.” – Shayla, Senior Strategist, BX Motivated by the Black Queens she illustrates, Shayla said she created this project to start conversations while expressing her creativity, and hopes the stories shared will inspire, educate and build empathy in others. “Often our voices are hushed or put in the background.
