Building Better and Brighter Lives

About us

Since 2006, Building Homes for Heroes® has been at the forefront of making a significant difference in the lives of wounded American service members and their families. The organization gifts mortgage-free homes that meet the needs of the men and women who have selflessly served our country. These homes not only help to remove the family’s financial burden, they help to restore the individual’s freedom, and enable the veteran to lead a more independent and productive civilian life. Organizational efficiency and sound fiscal responsibility are of utmost importance at Building Homes for Heroes®; neither the CEO nor its board members are compensated for their duties. The organization strives to keep fundraising and administrative costs at a minimum, thus only a small percentage of funds are allocated to overhead costs. Based on fiscal year audited financial statements, the organization had a program service percentage of 95.5 percent, the thirteenth straight year of at least a 93% program rating. We proudly gift and modify one home every 11 days, on average, and will reach our milestone 400th home in December of 2024. To further assist veterans, the organization has added programs, including financial planning services, family funding, and emergency support. Each home recipient is provided with a financial planning representative. This program is designed to provide the new, and sometimes first-time, homeowners with advice and guidance needed to maintain home expenses and to plan for a successful future.

  • #FundraisingFriday “What I love most about Building Homes for Heroes, Inc. is that it has its ongoing commitment to action right in its name. Building something takes effort. It takes grit and grind and guts and grace. It takes dreamers and doers with fortitude and foresight to keep moving forward. It takes a team to forge a foundation. It takes hearts and hands and hope and hard work to build a home. Being subject to one another, respecting the dignity of one another, being vulnerable with one another are each divine acts of everyday heroism. It means so much to do this fundraiser with my dad and mom and nana. That I am only here but for the grace and blueprints of those before me is crystal clear. That we can only do it because of our family and friends and extended community is never lost on me. That a culture of service, of engagement, must be cultivated and nurtured and fought for and worked at is as true as anything I have ever known. For our 10th fundraiser this year, wanted to raise $100,000. We have raised over $120,000. I am so moved by all the people who showed up. The world is made and remade by those who show up. Please never forget that you make this world. Thank you. What’s Next?” — Chloe Sigillito via Instagram — Chloe Sigillito, thank you for your support of our mission and our nation’s heroes. Some wounds truly take a lifetime to heal… One of the many injuries from the helicopter crash that people don’t realize I deal with is my right arm/side. I’ve had two previous repairs on my shoulder, and it decided we should have another surgery for old times' sake. My incredible team at The Steadman Clinic removed all the old hardware/sutures, loose bodies/tissue, and shredded cartilage and put five new anchors in. Going into the operating room, I was ready to run until the last minute. My blood pressure has never been high, but the stress (and even panic) of the thought of how brutal this recovery will be with the prosthetic and even the setbacks to my training and climbs have gotten to me over the last couple of months. Now that I’m a week in, I feel better about it all… though there’s still plenty to navigate. Five more weeks in the sling and several months of physical therapy, and we will be as good as new. PS: I made sure to add the stocking and orange sock to my wardrobe 😄. #TheSteadmanClinic #RecoveryJourney #Surgery #Adaptive #LeftLegless

I had the best day in New York with Team Osaic yesterday for their annual softball game! It was a great day making memories, meeting new colleagues and having some fun while doing it! This year the longtime annual game was transformed into a benefit, with each team playing for a local charity. The #OsaicFoundation made grants on behalf of the players of $5,000 for Tunnel to Towers Foundation and $4,000 for Building Homes for Heroes, Inc. Special shoutout to Team Home Office and those who made the trip from Philadelphia with me!! I am already looking forward to next year's game! #TeamOsaic
