We are so excited to have Philip Hall joining BWFH as a Nutrition Asssitant! Philip found a love of nutrition and cooking thanks to Pine Street Inn's iCater program! Pine Street Inn is the largest homeless services provider in New England, with a goal to “end homelessness by making the safety and stability of permanent housing a reality for all.” iCater is a culinary job training program that teaches not only kitchen training, but also wellness and financial literacy for shelter guests. Philip sought shelter at the Pine Street Inn, and joined iCater in the process, making meals to feed shelter guests as well as camps, schools, and nonprofits. Philip was recently featured in a WCVB Channel 5 piece to discuss his participation in the program, saying ‘“The iCater program has definitely boosted my confidence. I have a voice now. I’m doing different stuff in the kitchen. I’m cooking for the staff and also for the guests.”' Please help us in welcoming Philip to the BWFH team, and learn more about this story below:

Every year, our Community Health and Wellness Department coordinates a Summer Jobs Program that has an impact on both the hospital and local young people! Working with the Boston Private Industry Council (PIC), we provide local high school students the opportunity to learn about careers in healthcare. This summer, we had 10 students participate! In addition to their daily work in assigned areas, this year’s students could attend a career panel hosted by BWFH’s Advanced Practice Providers and a financial literacy workshop by the CFA Society Boston. Several students with an interest in nursing and patient care were able to shadow our clinical staff! Thank you to these students for their hard work and dedication this summer!

It’s #NationalDogDay! While the Brigham Buddies pet therapy program operates out of Brigham and Women's Hospital, we have had the pleasure of having the buddies here at BWFH in support of our staff. They have brought comfort and joy to our hard-working teams, and we are so thankful for their and their family's dedication! Do you think your pet would make a great Brigham Buddies therapy dog? Email Kelsey at [email protected] for more information on the program.
