The Brazos River Authority exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River basin.
About us
The Brazos River Authority was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 as the first government entity in the United States created specifically for the purpose of developing and managing the water resources of an entire river basin. Today, the BRA's staff of more than 250 develop and distribute water supplies, provide water and wastewater treatment, monitor water quality, and pursue water conservation through public education programs. The Brazos River Authority is entirely self-supporting, except for occasional governmental grants to help pay the costs of specific projects. The BRA does not levy or collect taxes; rather maintains and operates reservoirs and treatment systems using revenues from the customers it serves. It's Fun Fact Friday!! 😊 According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, ocean water freezes just like freshwater, but at lower temperatures. Fresh water freezes at 32°F. But seawater freezes at about 28.4°F because of the salt in it. When seawater freezes, however, the ice contains very little salt because only the water part freezes. It can be melted down to use as drinking water. Sea water becomes more and more dense as it becomes colder, right down to its freezing point. Freshwater, on the other hand, is most dense while still at 39.2°F, well above the freezing point. The average temperature of all ocean water is about 38.3°F. #SeaWater #OceanWater #Freshwater #Educational #FunFactFriday #BrazosRiverAuthority

Back in the 1970s, Texas was growing fast. People needed more water for everything from drinking to electricity. So, the Brazos River Authority built a dam on the Navasota River, creating a lake that would not only provide water to those who needed it, but the secondary benefit of a lovely recreational opportunity. The new gem that emerged was Lake Limestone! To learn more visit, https://bityl.co/Rm3H. #LakeLimestone #BrazosRiverAuthority #Educational
