After four years of hard work and growth, my undergraduate journey at Boston University has finally come to a fulfilling close. #LastDayofUndergraduate From my initial days filled with curiosity at 640 Commonwealth Avenue to now, where I can skillfully apply communication and public relations theories to solve real-world problems, every step has been a testament to countless efforts and perseverance. During my time at the College of Communication, I gained not just professional knowledge but also new perspectives on viewing the world. Every classroom discussion and every hands-on project deepened my understanding of the global landscape. Particularly, my practical experiences at PRLab at Boston University truly made me appreciate the responsibilities and challenges of being a PR professional. Throughout these four years, I've encountered many outstanding professors and classmates whose guidance and friendship will remain a valuable treasure in my life. Thank you, Boston University, Boston University College of Communication and thank you to everyone who has helped, supported, and accompanied me along this path. Because of you, I am ready to courageously turn the page to a new chapter in my life.

  • Be Your Own Biggest Fan: How to Approach “Tell Me About Yourself”  By: Ashley Facey, Account Supervisor 1. It’s not bragging, it’s advertising 🎊 Knowing your strengths and aspirations and then sharing that information does not make you sound conceited or stuck up. Anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is trying to dull your sparkle (even if that person is you). 2. People DO judge books by their covers - have a good title page 📕 The way you present yourself is the first thing people notice about you. Knowing how to describe your capabilities, experiences, and value is a display of confidence and self assurance. 3. Take control of your narrative 📖 No one knows your story better than you, so you should be the absolute best at crafting, perfecting, and sharing your story. 4. Have a formula 📊 What do you want interviewers to know about you? You can create your own formula using factors about your identity, interests, aspirations, and even your hobbies. 5. Return the favor 👥 Ask the interviewer about themselves! Further the conversation and have a good 'ol chit chat. You never know what you can find in common. Getting the opportunity to serve as an Account Supervisor at PRLab at Boston University for the full academic year has been such a jaw-dropping learning experience in terms of leadership and career growth. I can't believe it's coming to an end with graduation right around the corner :'( Much thanks to both TEDxCambridge and Goodwill Industries International ! xx

How Networking Has Affected My Career Path By: Bianca Gawencki, Account Supervisor “I researched industries and companies I desired to work in, sent out tons of applications, and waited. By November, my fear was coming true and nothing had come of my efforts. I've always been told about the importance of networking throughout my time at BU COM, but I was too nervous to cold-call or email anyone as an applicant of my standing. I somehow decided it was time to get over that stress and start directly reaching out.” As a college student, how many times have we heard about the importance of networking? The answer is probably plenty. Some of us might be afraid or skeptical about networking and the benefits of it. In our latest blog post, Bianca recounted how networking has helped her land an internship but affected her career path. It’s hard to believe that my semester as an account supervisor at PRLab at Boston University for Aaron's Presents and Boston University’s Committee on Sexual Assault & Harassment Prevention is coming to an end. I can’t wait to see what next year has in store as I continue my PRLab journey as co-executive vice president. Below is my PRLab blog post. Check out my five tips and tricks for final presentations:

Five Tips for Final Presentations By: Sophia Featherstone, Account Supervisor 1. Plan Out Your Attire Beforehand 👔 👗 Wear something you feel comfortable in. If you're uncomfortable, the audience will take notice. For group presentations, coordinate your outfits so that the team presents as a united front. 2. Use Your Voice 🔊 Speak loudly, clearly, and at a slow pace. You know the content, but the audience does not. Thus, pace yourself. 3. Engage with the Audience 👯 Avoid reading word for word off your slides. Engage with the audience. Even if you're nervous, feign confidence and walk around. 4. Use Eye-Catching Visuals 📊 Instead of text-heavy slides, include aesthetically pleasing charts, graphs, and photos to illustrate what you're presenting. 5. Practice, Practice, Practice 🗣 Gain confidence by practicing in front of a mirror, family, or friends. Try to avoid relying on note cards. Repetition will help you refine your delivery and ensure a polished performance. Read the full blog post here: https://lnkd.in/gCzri_Mk
