BMW Manufacturing congratulates driver Rebecca Donaghe and navigator Syndiely Wade on finishing 3rd in the 2024 Rebelle Rally off-road navigation rally! Accumulating 1029 points overall, and 68% of the total points in the X-Cross field, Rebecca and her team piloted the specially outfitted, 4th generation, all-new BMW X3 M50 to a rigorously fought 3rd place podium finish. This remarkable achievement would not have come to fruition without the commitment and teamwork of Plant Spartanburg’s associates, sponsors, members of the BMW Scholars Program, and colleagues of the BMW Accessory Center involved in the development and outfitting of this versatile vehicle. We are thrilled to share the successful results of our innovation in the Upstate and look forward to what victories the future may bring! #BMWManufacturing #PlantSpartanburg #BMWNorthAmerica #RebelleRally #BMWX3 #Teamworkbuiltthis

The BMW Group in the U.S. has pledged a donation of $1 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to support in the recovery efforts after the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Catastrophic winds and rain hit the southeast, including the Carolinas, causing widespread damage and historic flooding. Roads were destroyed by the floods, and landslides left entire communities completely isolated from outside aid for days. The American Red Cross and thousands of volunteers are working tirelessly to care for people impacted by this disaster. “This donation will help the Red Cross give assistance to many in the Carolinas who are in need, including some of our own associates,” said Dr. Robert Engelhorn, president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing. “Thousands of our BMW family lost power, many had their homes damaged by falling trees, and some had their homes swept away by floods. We offer our thanks and support to the Red Cross and many volunteers who are working so hard on the recovery effort.”

BMW Manufacturing hosted the 2024 Rebelle Rally Handover event. In partnership with BMW of North America, president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing, Dr. Robert Engelhorn presented the driver, Rebecca Donaghe, the keys to a specially outfitted, 4th generation, all-new BMW X3 M50. Veteran driver Rebecca Donaghe, will pilot alongside navigator Syndiely Wade over 1,500 miles of grueling California and Nevada terrain in the all-new high-performance BMW X3 M50 during the 2024 Rebelle Rally. Taking place October 11–18, the nation’s longest off-road rally features a bold lineup of female driver-navigator teams and prohibits the usage of GPS guidance, forcing competitors to rely on paper maps and compasses as they hunt for checkpoints throughout the rugged desert landscape. Coming back from a podium finish in the BMW X2 in 2023, Donaghe is ready to test the limits of the all-new BMW X3.“ We knew we had great engineering”, said Donaghe, as she looks back, preparing to fight for her place on the podium once again. As BMW Manufacturing continues to honor our 30-year legacy in the upstate, the BMW X3 will proudly display the anniversary logo on the hood throughout the rally. Our legacy would not be complete without celebrating the work and dedication the team of sponsors, members of the BMW Scholars Program, and associates involved in designing, accessorizing, and abling this vehicle. The Scholars, who are in BMW’s two-year apprenticeship program that partners with local area technical colleges, have helped curate an amazing machine ready to handle the rigorous elements of nature. BMW Manufacturing is grateful for the collaboration it took to make this day a reality and wish Rebecca and Syndiely a safe and successful 2024 Rebelle Rally! #BMWManufacturing #BMWNorthAmerica #RebelleRally #BMWX3 #Teamworkbuiltthis

As part of the culmination of Workforce Development Month, Governor Henry McMaster and S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) Executive Director William Floyd presented BMW Manufacturing with the 2024 Workforce Champion Award at the Governor’s Mansion. This award honors an employer that has displayed extraordinary effort and innovation in developing and connecting educators and students with employment opportunities in South Carolina. BMW was selected as the honoree because of our commitment to providing hands-on experiences to middle and high schoolers with access to our state-of-the-art facility and our exceptional apprenticeship programs, which are the first of their kind in the state. “The most important investment for BMW is our people, and our future workforce is right here in South Carolina. We must provide students with opportunities to learn through experience so they will take an educational path that leads them to a successful career,” said BMW Vice President of Human Resources Sherry McCraw. “The rapid pace of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and electrification is transforming the automotive industry. This means we must provide a learning environment that promotes creativity, fosters innovation, and teaches technical training skills.” Congratulations, Plant Spartanburg!
