Shannon Kennedy, CEO of BMO Wealth Management shares the importance of planning ahead, especially for women. She shares the following stats: - In the U.S., 14 million women-owned businesses account for 39% of all privately held businesses that produced a total revenue of $2.7 trillion in 2023. And women-owned businesses aren’t slowing down — their revenue growth rate outpaced the rate of men-owned businesses by 82% from 2019 to 2023. - However, only 36% of women business owners have a detailed financial plan for their companies, compared to 59% of their male counterparts. The takeaway: Women aren’t planning ahead nearly as much as we need to — and because women live longer, our investments must work longer for us, too. Shannon says, take the time to prepare for how you can sustain, maintain and grow the investments that are coming to you so you can set yourself up for your own future and leave a legacy.
