"The #robots are here," says Bear Robotics Co-Founder and COO Juan Higueros on the new #TEConnectPodcast. He helps us understand the market and potential for VARs willing to invest in the technology. 🐻 Juan shares the story of Bear’s origin with its founder and restaurant owner, seeing the possibility of introducing a robot to his business. Nearly a decade later, they have deployments in every US state and worldwide. Bear’s products address labor shortages, rising wages, and laborers' complex, busy work, especially in the #hospitality industry. 👵 It’s not just restaurants, though. Juan was surprised by the investment in robots in the senior living industry, with stricter guidelines for who can work there, further limiting the labor pool. In healthcare, robots can do some of the “running” that takes time out of workers’ days. 🍽️ Bear specializes in hospitality and service robots. Juan calls out functions like delivering food and drinks, bussing, greeting guests, and taking them to tables. Ghost kitchens have also been a big market, where quickly taking orders to third-party drivers can save time and get customers fresh, hot food faster. Even dishwashing can get easier with robots. 🤝 What does a deployment look like, and how do VARs fit in? Dean points out that robot partners are the experts who aim to provide a smooth experience. "I've witnessed how easy these are to set up." He acknowledges that VARs may be hesitant but that the hurdles have been cleared. Juan emphasizes that they appreciate the channel because resellers already have the relationships and understand their customers' needs better than anyone. 💰 Recurring revenue? Subscription models are driving continuous business. "There's a lot of potential for ongoing maintenance and support over a longer period of time," shares Juan. "These robots will be in some of these locations for years, so you want to have the recurring support model which the VARs can benefit from."
