Our Community Health Academy begins today with 16 participating cities. While the academy's focus remains the same, we've used a continuous learning approach to try and improve the learning collaborative. We encourage other foundations and funders to do the same in their work. https://ow.ly/6c3850SlbZR

We created the Community Health Champion Award to honor an Idaho municipality that promotes community health. The award, which includes a $5,000 grant, will be presented Thursday night at the Association of Idaho Cities conference dinner. More than 20 cities applied, but only one will win. Which city do you think it will be?

Our Senior Program Officers Courtney Frost and Jackie Yarbrough attended this conference and enjoyed meeting with fellow "Blues" foundation staffers. Courtney's presentation on using built environment projects to bring communities together attracted a full room.
We loved attending this year’s Grantmakers In Health Annual Conference on Health Philanthropy in our hometown of Portland, Ore. Cambia Health Foundation proudly sponsored the conference that drew 600+ attendees representing over 300 organizations. Foundation President Peggy Maguire moderated a panel about how to support the health and well-being of older people and Foundation staff attended sessions throughout the three-day conference. The conference theme was “Bold Results Through Courageous Action” highlighting how grantmakers across the country are experimenting with new approaches to giving that yield big advancements in health. Three key takeaways from Foundation staff that attended the conference are the importance of seeking input about solutions from those most impacted by health inequities, recognizing that every community has strengths that can be drawn on to help lift up its members and that financial health is a key component to public health. Cambia Health Foundation and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation co-hosted a special networking session to bring together colleagues from Blue Shield of California Foundation, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, Blue Cross NC, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Florida Blue Foundation, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation, Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation.

Idaho has a shortage of primary care physicians, especially in rural areas. Our state needs innovative solutions to attract and retain doctors to help keep us healthy. https://ow.ly/461250SbWFO
Opinion: Idaho depends on attracting and retaining rural physicians
