Seven cities — American Falls, Ashton, Driggs, Firth, Lava Hot Springs, Ketchum and Newdale — joined us in Idaho Falls to learn about the importance of designing healthy communities from national expert Mark Fenton. How communities are designed can impact the health of the city and its residents.

Our interactive Community Health Academy session in Boise showed leaders from Bellevue, Carey, Eagle, Ketchum, Marsing and Meridian that how we design our communities impacts the health of them. Each attendee left with ideas to improve their own cities to enable people to be more active while promoting health, economic development and safety.

This week, our Community Health Academy wraps up in Sandpoint, Boise and Idaho Falls. Tuesday we were up north with national walkability expert Mark Fenton. The cities of Bovill, East Hope, Ponderay, and Sandpoint attended the Designing Healthy Communities session and learned how city design impacts health.
