We welcomed Mike Bloomberg to our office this week to give employees the opportunity to hear from him directly about the values that define Bloomberg – in particular, focusing on customer service and giving back to the community. He spent time with our sales and product teams where he heard about our latest innovations for Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Tax, and Bloomberg Government, and he offered his perspective on building market-disrupting technology and delivering value to clients. We were all inspired by his journey, philanthropy, and words of encouragement.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, V!VA developed programming centered around the theme, V!VA Adelante, which translates to Live Forward. In the words of V!VA Co-Chairs Kate Azevedo and Johnnie Campos, “Our heritage events will showcase our cultural community allowing us to come together to better understand our past, while ultimately living forward to shape our future.” In the spirit of moving forward to build a better tomorrow, meet Angélica Serrano-Román. Since joining us in 2022, Angélica has brought a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to our team as a state tax reporter for Puerto Rico. Originally from the island, she has enabled our tax team to provide more nuanced and context-rich coverage of important tax issues impacting it. Her ability to incorporate diverse sources into her reporting has helped us to better connect with our audience and tell more inclusive stories. Beyond her work, Angélica is committed to giving back to the greater Hispanic community. As a faculty member at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she teaches journalism and mentors emerging reporters. Learn more about Angélica and stay tuned for more of V!VA’s programming for #HispanicHeritageMonth.

In recognition of Women's Equality Day, WOMXN hosted a speed mentoring event for attendees to share their experiences, how they've grown and advanced their careers, and the lessons they've learned along the way. The event is one of the ways in which WOMXN seeks to foster the well-being and resilience of people who identify as women within our community and cultivate a more inclusive environment. Equality starts with empowered women, and we cannot wait to see the impact of this event reverberate throughout our employee community! Thank you to WOMXN co-chairs, Tiwa Nwogu, Esq., Heidi Stryker, Betsy Mountenay, Irene Jung, and Annie Sheehan for making this event possible!

As part of Community of Hope's Back-to School celebration, we filled and donated 400 backpacks with school supplies for local elementary, middle, and high school students. "The backpack drive is one of my favorite BOB events! Because so many can participate, it's a manageable activity with a massive impact. I know firsthand that the power of education can change a child's future forever," said Antonio Thomas. This is the fifth year in a row that we have held a backpack drive benefiting Community of Hope's back-to-school event, and we are excited to continue to work together to build our community!

Our newest gift to The Johns Hopkins University ensures that the most talented aspiring doctors from all socioeconomic backgrounds can graduate debt-free from the The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. And to further address recent declines in U.S. life expectancy, our gift will increase financial aid for students from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. We’re also increasing student aid for selected degrees at JHU’s other graduate schools. https://lnkd.in/eUCPQ7Wp

In observance of Pride Month, our employee resource group OPEN connected our employees through programming centered around the theme, "All Together with Pride," shining light on the collective strength and unity within our community. This month, we hosted an LGBTQIA+ Allyship 101 seminar, a "Pride Block Party" and welcomed Orion Rummler, LGBTQIA+ reporter at The 19th, Casey Pick, director of law and policy at The Trevor Project, and Kellen MacBeth, PMP, president at Equality Arlington for an engaging panel discussion designed to shed light on the intersection of LGBTQIA+ rights. As we celebrate Pride month, meet Dax Ellison, Jr.. Since joining us, Dax has become instrumental in our sales team's success and an invaluable member of our community! When asked what motivates him at work, Dax shared, "My clients motivate me. I enjoy having clients across the DMV area where I can quickly catch up with them over breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It shows we're human." Learn more about Dax and stay tuned for more features celebrating our employees!

Pride Month is a time to celebrate and uplift members of the LGBTQ+ community. At Bloomberg Industry Group, we encourage you to bring your authentic selves, open minds, and unique perspectives to work every day. This year, OPEN, our employee community supporting the LGBTQ+ community and allies, curated events and programming to educate, uplift, and inspire our community under the theme 'All Together with Pride.' The month's activations provided education, entertainment, activism, and community support, beginning with a pride block party where we kicked things off with a vibrant celebration on the patio of our office. Thank you to our OPEN co-chairs, Malachi Hammonds, Sam Racine, Jeremie Herpson, Khorri A. Atkinson, and Antonio Thomas, and executive influencer Hyun-Seuk Khang for all their hard work!

Throughout Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, PACT connected our employee community and empowered its members through storytelling, cultural events, and conversations on the AAPI experience. This month, we welcomed restaurateur Patrice Cleary, networked over chai and Vietnamese coffee, watched Spirited Away, and hosted Washington, D.C.'s only all-women Dabke troupe for an interactive and lively performance. To cap off the month, meet Engagement and Philanthropy Partner Krishna Najjar! Since joining us last year, Krishna has played a crucial role in cultivating our culture as the organizer of our philanthropic and community engagement initiatives. When asked what motivates him at work, Krishna said, "I am in a unique position to support our community and nonprofit partners. Having a role like no other that supports all realms of diversity, culture, and philanthropy rewards me every day, and that is more motivation than anything else." Learn more about Krishna and stay tuned for more features of leaders within our community!
