Bloomberg Philanthropies recently made a $600 million donation to strengthen the endowments of our nation's four historically Black medical schools and colleges and additional seed funding for the creation of Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine, a new medical school in New Orleans.   This donation continues the mission of Bloomberg Philanthropies' Greenwood Initiative to advance racial wealth equity by addressing the systemic underinvestment in Black institutions and communities.   Data from the Black Wealth Data Center shows how impactful this record-breaking investment will be in creating pathways to diversify and train the next generations of doctors and ultimately better serve underserved communities.   You can explore more data like this to assess the needs of Black communities by creating a free user account on our site.
