BWHI was invited by the White House Office of Public Engagement to commemorate the anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on Tuesday, August 13th. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) caps insulin out-of-pocket spending at $35 per month’s supply of each insulin product covered under a Medicare Part D plan, with similar limits for out-of-pocket costs for insulin supplied under Part B. It also reduces out-of-pocket drug spending in Medicare in other ways. The event highlighted the benefits of the IRA’s insulin cap and featured remarks from the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and a panel moderated by the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, with patients relying on insulin and providers. Pictured, BWHI’s Senior Director, Dr. Zsanai Epps, and summer intern Carina Roberts.
