𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗘𝗚 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲!? We want to share with the scientific community the first open-access dataset that uses 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗘𝗚 and accurately measures 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆. 🧠👕 https://lnkd.in/dsgrbxvD Last year, our researchers conducted a study that demonstrates Ikon headband reliability in measuring brain activity, showing comparable performance to traditional systems while prioritizing user comfort. The study emphasizes that the 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗘𝗚 (Bitbrain Ikon headband) represents a significant step toward making EEG technology more accessible and comfortable for the general population. By reducing manufacturing costs and enhancing usability, this technology could facilitate large-scale recordings for both clinical and non-clinical applications. The potential applications are vast—from clinical assessments to everyday brain health monitoring. We believe this technology can significantly improve access to EEG measurements, enhancing mental health and well-being. 𝗢𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗲𝗹-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 – 𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀! 🧠 https://lnkd.in/dsgrbxvD In our ongoing quest to refine EEG technology, our new dataset, accompanies the findings from our paper “𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩-𝘢𝘯𝘥-𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘱 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘜𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘦𝘭, 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘳𝘺 𝘌𝘌𝘎 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴.” Together with the University of Graz our researchers conducted tests to verify the reliability of water-based and dry sensors compared to the gel ones. Our electrode systems have shown 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 to traditional gel electrodes in monitoring brain activity during reach-and-grasp tasks. Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) are rapidly evolving, and this publication offers compelling evidence that water-based and dry-electrode systems are on par with traditional gel-based setups. 45 participants performed reach-and-grasp actions (15 for each system) and it was evaluated how well each system captured movement-related brain activity. Despite using fewer electrodes, the 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 achieved a 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝟲𝟭%, closely 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟲𝟮% 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗹-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺. Regarding the dry-sensors system, we obtained a classification accuracy of 56%. This drop in accuracy was not unexpected due to the large difference in the number of electrodes (Gel, n = 58; Water, n = 32; Dry, n = 11). 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟭 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 (𝟱𝟲-𝟱𝟳%). These findings suggest that water and dry systems can offer the 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗲𝗹-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀, making them 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. This milestone reinforces our dedication to creating practical EEG solutions that simplify the user experience. By eliminating the need for messy gel applications, we’re making EEG technology more accessible to researchers and clinicians alike.
