Today is International Overdose Awareness Day—a time for us to reflect on the lives lost too soon and to renew our commitment to change. Nearly 110,000 American lives were lost to substance overdoses last year, reminding us of the critical need for our ongoing work. Today also marks BirdieLight’s 3rd anniversary. Over these years, we’ve reached nearly 60,000 students, parents, and healthcare professionals about the dangers of fentanyl, saving countless lives. But there’s still so much more to be done. Thank you for your support so far. Your involvement has made a real difference. Today, you can continue to make an impact by talking to a loved one about fentanyl and overdose and by donating to help us sustain our vital education programs and drive meaningful change. Give Today: donorbox.org/fallforchange Together, we can honor those we’ve lost and protect the ones we love. #ioad #overdoseawareness #harmreduction

Fentanyl is the number one cause of death in 18-45 year olds. We're going to change that.
About us
BirdieLight saves lives by educating young people on the danger of unintentional fentanyl ingestion, and by empowering them with tools to detect fentanyl before they ingest. Our job is to spread awareness around the dangers of fentanyl in drugs and distribute tools to prevent overdose, so you have the power to save your own life.

Today, August 21, we observe National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. 🎗️ This day underscores the urgent need to address the fentanyl crisis, educate our communities, and remember those who were taken from us too soon. At BirdieLight, our mission is deeply personal. We’ve reached nearly 60,000 students, parents, and healthcare professionals with crucial information about fentanyl and life-saving tools. Each effort we make is dedicated to those we’ve lost, including Eli and many other young lives cut short by fentanyl. We are committed to prevent further young lives from being lost and to spare families from the unbearable pain of losing a loved one to unintentional fentanyl ingestion. While our efforts have saved lives, the need remains critical, and we can't do it alone. It costs $88,000 annually to sustain just our in-school high school events, and our goal this fall is to raise $6,000 to expand this effort. Your support is more than a donation—it’s a lifeline that can make a real impact. As the fall semester approaches, join us in saving lives and honoring those we’ve lost. Tomorrow, May 7th, is #fentanylawarenessday, which joins together the many voices dedicated to educating the public on the serious dangers of fentanyl poisoning from fake pills and other illicit drugs. Did you know that 7 out of every 10 pills that the Drug Enforcement Administration seizes has a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl? Please #share this with your friends and family! #knowledgeispower A HUGE thank you to Carol O'Donnell from BirdieLight for her collaboration on this post. Birdielight is a fentanyl awareness and education nonprofit. Be sure to check out BirdieLight for more resources for youth serving organizations, order fentanyl test strips, and find ways to get involved in this important issue. _______________ #NationalFentanylAwarenessDay #keycoalition #birdielight #knowledgeempowersyouth #knowledgeispower #OnePillCanKill #fentanylawarenessday #substanceuseprevention #drugprevention #prevention #publichealth #northshore #newtriertownship #newtrier #Illinois #chicagoland #mentalhealth #mentalwellness #harmreduction #glencoe #glenview #kenilworth #northfield #winnetka #wilmette
