I am excited and honored about our consortia, the BioCircularValley (BioCirv), being one of five of Schmidt Sciences’ Virtual Institute on Feedstocks of the Future (VIFF), with support from the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR). These projects will expand the science, technology, and engineering available to advance the use of future feedstocks in bioproduction, creating new economic and environmental benefits. Led by researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California Berkeley, in collaboration with partners at UC Agriculture & Natural Resources, UC Merced, USDA-Albany, and BEAM Circular, the BioCirV consortium aims to generate new field and laboratory data to develop a digital “bioeconomy cartography” tool for California’s Northern San Joaquin Valley (NSJV). #bioeconomy #sustainability #syntheticbiology #futurefeedstocks #VIFF #yayscience
