As part of the Hospice Care Team, Bereavement Counselors work to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs for not only the patient but the whole family. Did you know that Big Bend Hospice provides bereavement care to our patient’s family for 13 months after the loss of a loved one? This is to help the family and friends get through every special holiday all the way up to one month after the anniversary of their passing. In addition, Big Bend Hospice offers Therapeutic Programs that support both our patients and the community. These programs include Animal Therapy, Veterans Services, Music Therapy, and Community Bereavement Care. These programs are offered at no cost. In honor of National Grief Awareness Day, we invite you to donate to Big Bend Hospice Foundation. We had the opportunity to attend several community events this summer, including the Alzheimer’s Education and Awareness Conference and the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Women's Forum. Big Bend Hospice is proud to be part of events that help our community and bring people together. We’re grateful for the chance to make a difference in the Big Bend region!

Does your child need a safe and supportive space to talk about the death of someone special? Big Bend Hospice is here for you, free of charge and open to the youth in our community. Big Bend Hospice offers a free monthly support group for children ages 6-12. The loss does not have to be recent for a child to benefit from participating. Our next meeting is Tuesday, August 27th, from 5:30-6:30pm in the cozy Family Room at the Jean McCully Family House, next to the Margaret Z. Hospice Dozier House. Our 24th Annual Dr. Glenn Bass Golf Tournament hosted by Big Bend Hospice Foundation is just around the corner, and we’re excited to welcome all our teams and sponsors on Monday, September 9th at Golden Eagle Golf Course. At Big Bend Hospice, we take pride in our Valor Team's commitment to recognizing our nation's veterans. Recently, we had the honor of celebrating Specialist 4th Class Leonard McIntire in a Valor Ceremony. Surrounded by loved ones, Specialist McIntire was recognized for his dedicated military service and his 91st birthday. Our volunteers work diligently to acknowledge and honor those who have served our country. Specialist McIntire, your service and dedication are greatly appreciated. Congratulations to Bennett Napier, President and CEO of Partners in Association Management, on receiving this award for the 12th time! We are honored to have Bennett as the Secretary on the Big Bend Hospice Board of Directors. His leadership and insight are invaluable to our mission.

To celebrate National Ice Cream Day, the BBH Engagement Council treated staff to a visit from Momma P's Ice Cream Truck. Everyone had a blast enjoying ice cream and celebrating the hard work of this amazing team.

Dozier House and the First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care, where volunteers serve sweet treats and snacks to patients, families, and staff.
