Congratulations are in order for our South African liaison, Lipalesa Morake, who continues to uplift, empower, and support the next generation.     Recently, Lipalesa was awarded by the Mail & Guardian under the category of Civil Society for their Power of Women award. This prestigious award celebrates 30 years of the positive contributions of women within their community, and across the African continent.     Lipalesa is the Director of Africa Youth Development at Global Citizen, and spearheaded the BeyGOOD x Global Citizen four-year Fellowship program, which provided students with a paid, year-long fellowship with Global Citizen in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.  This was a signature program funded by longtime BeyGOOD collaborator, Tyler Perry, and aimed to equip the students with the skills and tools needed to thrive in any professional environment.    Lipalesa has continued to build long-lasting relationships with each cohort, where she focuses on storytelling tactics that shift attitudes, and impacts how innovation is viewed in a constantly changing world.

The Black Parade Route started in 2020 to celebrate business owners and communities. Four years later the Route is stronger than ever! Along the way, we have met so many inspiring individuals, and it’s been our absolute privilege to bring their inspiring stories to you. Today, we’re featuring Tyree Boyd-Pates, Founder of NOMMO Cultural Strategies. Through his Los Angeles based consultancy, he advises leading companies and organizations on where culture meets strategy, through a focus on African-American art, history, and culture. Boyd-Pates believes that, “If we want to continue Black history, we have to support Black businesses,” and he’s absolutely right. Through both his entrepreneurial and educational endeavors with local communities and children within the Los Angeles area, Boyd-Pates is the perfect reflection of BeyGOOD’s founding pillars and principles. Through his unwavering commitment to uplifting the Black experience, he is cementing his place in Black history, and we’re honored to be part of his legacy of GOOD. Check out his interview below, and let’s continue to support the businesses that are changing the future for us all. #BlackParadeRoute #BlackBusinessMonth
