🚁 We’ve just executed the renewal option of our concession agreement with NYCEDC and the City of New York for operations at the East 34th Street Heliport (6N5) for the next five years. Located on Manhattan’s East River, this key facility supports helicopter operations around New York City, including vital flights for the NYU Langone Health Center. And we’re not stopping there — we’re getting ready to welcome the future of urban mobility! 🌍⚡ In alignment with NYC’s mission for sustainable infrastructure, we’re embarking on a utility upgrade project at the heliport. This will include installing charging stations to support electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, working alongside cutting-edge partners like Joby, BETA, and Archer Aviation. Electric aviation - an exciting greener future. When British Defence Staff based in the USA were offered access to a ground-breaking no emissions aircraft, they jumped at the chance. Vermont-based BETA Technologies has developed Alia, an electric aircraft transforming medical, logisitics and defence capabilities, and invited our defence experts to take a look at the world of possibilities it opens up. “It was a privilege for the team to be hosted by BETA and assess their fully electric aircraft and production facility” says Strategic Command’s Stu Johnson. “The Alia platform - with its conventional and vertical take-off and landing capability - has the potential to be a game-changer for defence utility.” The skies, it seems, are not the limit! The UK is committed to supporting reaching Net Zero by 2050.
