Our Purpose is your Health
About us
As a not-for-profit community health system, Benefis is driven to provide the highest level of care. We serve nearly 230,000 residents across a 15-county region that is bigger than Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont combined. Benefis is the largest non-governmental employer in the Great Falls area, with more than 3,000 employees. Benefis Hospitals has more than 530 beds at its two campuses (that includes 146 beds in long-term care and 20 beds at Peace Hospice of Montana) and partners with over 250 area physicians. More than 100 physicians and advanced practice professionals are employed with Benefis Medical Group. Our hospital provides a wide range of programs and services to help you live the best life possible. We’re here to help you “Live well.” Benefis Health System came about when two Christian-based hospitals became one. Our founders' believed in providing good care to all in need, and trusted that this would be accomplished. The Benefis name was derived using Latin root words: "Bene-" meaning good, and "fis-" for faith and trust. It’s these same root words that make up such terms as ‘beneficial’ and ‘confidence’. Benefis has been a trusted provider of care for more than 100 years. And our name speaks to our commitment: good care one can put faith in. Benefis is consistently ranked among America’s top hospitals by the nation’s leading healthcare ratings organizations, including being rated as one of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare!

For as long as she can remember, Debra Ammondson has believed it is important to support others though the giving of her time, talents, and resources. Debra is a retired manager of outpatient therapy at Benefis. She previously worked as an occupational therapist and saw firsthand how Benefis Foundation positively impacted patients through new healthcare programs, scholarships, building additions, and more. “Philanthropy works, and I am proud to support our Foundation,” she said. Please join us in recognizing our Benefis Team of the Quarter: The Benefis Cardiology team! This team continues to grow the Cardiology program at Benefis Health System while keeping our patients as their focus. Thanks to their efforts, Benefis is now able to offer a number of new, less-invasive procedures, including TAVR, Watchman, and TCAR, meaning quicker recovery for patients and allowing them to receive treatment close to home. We are so thankful for the Cardiology team's energy and passion!

Congratulations to our Daisy Award winner Kyle Vandenacre! Kyle, an RN in the Emergency Department, was recently honored for his quick thinking and vital care after witnessing a shooting. Kyle happened to be in the drive-through line of a local fast-food restaurant when an employee was shot. He realized what was happening, jumped through the drive-through window, and rendered aid until paramedics and the ambulance arrived. Thank you for making a difference in our community, Kyle!
