We are excited to announce that John Powell, MD, MHCDS, FACEP, has joined Beebe Healthcare as its Physician in Chief! Dr. Powell is returning to his roots in Sussex County to join Beebe's leadership team. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and has more than 20 years of dedicated experience in healthcare. Dr. Powell has extensive experience in healthcare operations, clinical care design, value-based care partnerships, change management and performance improvement. Dr. Powell attended Sussex Central High School and then graduated from the University of Delaware. He earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College and completed a general surgery internship at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and then served active duty as a United States Navy Diver and Undersea Medical Officer. He returned to Delaware and completed his residency and fellowship in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Point-of-Care Ultrasound at ChristianaCare. James Beebe and Richard C. Beebe, the hospital on the Margaret H. Rollins Health Campus in Lewes, is a 210-licensed-bed, not-for-profit community hospital. Beebe's specialized service lines include cardiac and vascular, oncology, orthopedics, population and community health, women's health, and surgical services. In addition to the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus, Beebe operates two additional health campuses. The Rehoboth Beach Health Campus includes the Tunnell Cancer Center, Outpatient Surgery Center, Specialty Surgical Hospital, outpatient services and Beebe Medical Group practices. The South Coastal Health Campus includes a free-standing emergency department and South Coastal Cancer Center. There are additional locations for primary care, specialty services, and outpatient services in Georgetown, Long Neck, Milford, Millsboro, and Millville.
