A study by Florida Atlantic University has rated Atlanta's housing market to be the second most overpriced in the country. According to the study, Atlanta homes tend to be 40.4% overpriced, which also has a dramatic impact on rent prices, limiting the number of affordable options. Atlanta's Housing Board is attempting to increase the number of affordable housing units, but for our neighbors facing difficulty, the current lack of options makes them especially vulnerable. The pandemic has affected many of us, but for some, it has been especially hard. After being evicted twice, Jodie and her three girls moved into a shelter for a year, where she completed a life skills program and was eventually referred to BCM Georgia's Foundation 3. Through this program, she was able to secure housing for her and her daughters, obtain her GED, settle her debts, and find a job. She's now planning to get a bachelor's degree in graphic design. To learn more about Jodie's story and how Foundation 3 supports working families, check out this video: https://bit.ly/3LWyyAG
