About us

Bayhealth’s mission is to strengthen the health of our community, one life at a time. As central and southern Delaware’s largest healthcare system, Bayhealth is comprised of Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus and Bayhealth Milford Memorial, the freestanding Emergency Department in Smyrna as well as numerous satellite facilities and employed physician practices encompassing a variety of specialties. Bayhealth is a technologically advanced not-for-profit healthcare system with more than 3,700 employees and a medical staff of more than 400 physicians. Bayhealth is an affiliate of Penn Medicine for Heart and Vascular, Cancer and Orthopaedics. In Fiscal Year 2017, Bayhealth recorded 94,223 emergency department visits, 18,760 patients admitted to beds, 2,212 births, and provided $49.5 million in unreimbursed care to patients.

    Bayhealth's Population Health team was recently featured in an American Medical Association (AMA) article titled "At Bayhealth, value-based care helps put the patient first." The AMA is focused on addressing important issues for physician and patients that improve public health. This article was part of a series that provides information and resources on healthcare best practices in delivering care. It highlights Bayhealth's patient-first approach to value-based care and describes the work they been doing, resulting in improved outcomes for patients.     Why is it that many men tend to postpone medical visits? ⁠ ⁠ Often, apprehension plays a significant role. It is natural to have concerns about potential diagnoses; however, it is important to understand that being informed gives you the tools needed to make good decisions. Your health journey begins with scheduling that first appointment. Do not allow anxiety to get in the way of optimal health.     Bayhealth is excited to announce our second annual “Go Pink at the Rink” event on Saturday, Oct. 19 at The Centre Ice Rink. The event will feature cancer education free breast exams by the Bayhealth Cancer Institute. To add to the fun, Bayhealth has partnered with University of Delaware and attendees will get to meet and skate with Division I athletes and their mascot YoUDee. All attendees will also be entered to win 2024-2025 UD Women’s Basketball season tickets. #GoPink2024 #GoPinkAtTheRink #BayhealthGoesPink
