Dear Friends and Colleagues, I'm thrilled to share that Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship has selected me as a finalist for its Social Innovation Awards 2025 in recognition of my work with Battery Dance. I'm humbled and grateful that the role of dance as an agent of change is being recognized by such a prestigious institution. This announcement comes on the brink of launching the third year of Battery Dance's "Dancing for Trust" in Berlin and Brandenburg; my keynote address at UNESCO in Paris on the role of dance in promoting conflict resolution and peace; workshops with schoolteachers at Art' Rhena in France organized by The Blue House; the first year of classes in "Dancing to Connect" at Pace University and the third year at Vassar College. A message from our Founder & Artistic Director, Jonathan Hollander: To our community at home and abroad, In many dances around the world, people hold hands, form a circle, step lively in unison, feel a pulse of connection, and that indescribable energy that makes us all human lifts them up. I see this as a metaphor for Battery Dance.  Our sense of connection is so strong and deep that it has continued to propel us on our journey for 48 years.  Our vocabulary is simple, as basic as the human body in motion. We adhere to the rights of each and every person, we cherish their stories and enjoy sharing ours.  Though our endeavors are small and modest, we have found resonance among like-minded people and institutions right here in New York City and in the 70 countries where we've had the privilege of working. If you are reading this message, it means that you are somehow part of the circle dance with us, as a friend, patron, or partner. We appreciate you, and in fact our ability to carry on is supported by our relationship with you. While in Germany to conduct Dancing for Trust this past Fall, the Battery Dancers found time to occupy the Grassi Museum in Leipzig for the third "Art Activation" in the span of just 4 months in New York, Lagos and Leipzig. Videographer Arvid Wuensch captured the event.
