In 1954, Barksdale Federal was established to serve military and civilian personnel at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. While continuing to proudly serve the men and women, and their families, of Barksdale Air Force Base, we now serve over 1000 companies, associations, and churches. We are extremely excited about our opportunity to serve all people who live, work, worship or go to school in Bossier, Caddo, Webster, Grant, Rapides and Allen parishes by providing financial products and service delivery to enhance their economic well-being, including those of modest means. Barksdale Federal Credit Union was built on that foundation. That foundation is as important today as it was in 1954 and remains to be what differentiates us from other financial institutions. It is with heavy hearts we tell you Mr. Arno Easterly, Retired Director and President Emeritus, passed away on October 29, 2023. Mr. Arno Easterly had over 61 years of dedicated credit union service. He served as Director and President Emeritus on BFCU’s Board of Directors from 2012-2021 and the Supervisory Committee from 2010-2012. Mr. Easterly was President & CEO of Barksdale Federal Credit Union from 1984 -2008, increasing assets from $75 million to nearly $700 million, staff from 75 to 300, and locations from 2 to 17. He was a blessing to this credit union and everyone he encountered. Please keep his family in your prayers.
