Happy #FunFactFriday! Today kicks off November - are you the type of person who feels like the holiday season starts on November 1? Here's a fun fact if so: Bookkeepers have been keeping holiday spirits organized for centuries! In fact, the tradition of balancing books before the year ends likely dates back to medieval times when merchants would carefully close their accounts to see if they'd had a prosperous year. In some cultures, people even believed that settling debts and balancing finances by New Year's Eve would bring good fortune in the year to come. So, while we're decking the halls, bookkeepers double-check the ledgers—helping us start the new year with a clean slate! #bookkeeping #accounting #funfact

Happy #FunFactFriday! Here's a spooky-inspired fun fact to get us in the Halloween spirit... The term "ghost assets" is used in accounting to describe assets that are still on the books but are no longer in use or have disappeared—like they've vanished into thin air! These "haunted" assets can mess up the accuracy of financial reports if not properly written off, making them the accounting world's version of phantom troublemakers. Just like in a good ghost story, it's always a good idea to track down those missing assets before they cause a fright in your balance sheet! 👻📊 #halloween #funfact #accounting #bookkeeping #supportingstrategies

Happy #FunFactFriday! We all know that bookkeepers wear multiple hats when keeping the books balanced - but did you know that it dates back to the origins of the double-entry bookkeeping system? Double-entry bookkeeping originated in the 15th century and was popularized by an Italian mathematician, Luca Pacioli, who is often called the "Father of Accounting." What's cool is that his book, Summa de Arithmetica, introduced this system and contained sections on mathematics, chess, and even magic tricks! So, the same book that gave us the foundation of modern accounting also taught people how to play chess and perform illusions! Bookkeepers are multi-talented! #bookkeeping #funfact #accounting #finance
