About us

Bain Capital is one of the world’s leading alternative investment firms. More than 1,750 Bain Capital employees work together at 25 locations across four continents to manage approximately $185 billion in assets. Founded in 1984, Bain Capital has advanced a consulting-based approach to investment. We develop close partnerships with management teams around the world, uncovering valuable insights that drive long-term value to businesses and markets. We have expanded this approach beyond private equity to several asset classes, including credit, fixed income, public equity, venture capital, and real estate. We’re dedicated to responsible business practices, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards are critical considerations in our investment approach. We strive to create lasting impact for all stakeholders: our investors, our teams, our businesses, and the communities we’re a part of. We believe our shared values form the core of our competitive advantage: We develop exceptional partnerships. We know great outcomes come from great teams. We challenge conventional thinking. We think differently. We nurture a culture of deep objective inquiry and seek the full potential in every opportunity. We work with tenacity. We roll up our sleeves, dig in, and come to work every day searching for better outcomes. We believe character matters. We prize personal integrity and humility. Our team also supports a variety of charitable and nonprofit organizations by donating time, expertise and resources through the Bain Capital Community Partnership. Bain Capital Children's Charity, founded in 1996, has proven this by providing more than $55 million to 350 youth-related causes thanks to contributions from the firm’s employees and partners. In the critically undersupplied U.S. housing market, real estate investors and developers require dynamic, flexible, and reliable financing solutions for their construction and improvement projects. It’s in this environment that we see tremendous opportunity to support Archwest Capital, a leading national provider of lending solutions for the development and improvement of residential and multi-family real estate. Archwest’s leadership team has more than 70 years of combined experience offering a diversified suite of lending products and providing value to their borrowers. We are fully aligned with Archwest Capital’s mission to become the premier leader in U.S. business purpose lending. As the company continues to grow, we will help the Archwest team expand their innovative product offerings and enhance their value proposition. https://lnkd.in/eyJCtXmS

We were proud to recently support the Wellbeing of Women 36th Celebrity Cricket Day outside of London. Wellbeing of Women is a pioneering charity which has spent the last 60 years fostering awareness, enhancing critical healthcare outcomes, and fueling innovative research supporting women of all ages across the UK. This year’s fundraising event – held in tribute to Sir Michael Parkinson, a long-time supporter of the charity – featured a mix of some of the most famous cricketers of their generation, celebrities and enthusiastic amateurs. #wellbeing #charity #womenshealth

We won gold! We’re proud of the Bain Capital Dragon Boat Team for capturing gold at the annual Boston Dragon Boat Festival earlier this month. Twenty colleagues competed in this 2,000-year-old tradition of dragon boat racing and dedicated significant time in preparation for the event. In a gesture of good luck to all 68 teams and race participants, Ricky Sun represented us during the opening ‘eye-dotting ceremony’.

Global Head of Credit at Bain Capital Credit

It was a pleasure joining Institutional Investor’s Julie Segal for a wide-ranging discussion that bridged both personal and professional topics. Over the course of our conversation, we kept coming back to a key theme. Taking a long-term view on everything from partnerships, investing, and empowering people has enabled Bain Capital to mirror the evolution of the credit markets over the last 25 years. A few takeaways: 1)     Partner differently: Our private partnership and long-term view affords the opportunity to focus on building true alignment with our investors and partners. It also enables us to lean into more complex or misunderstood products like #CLOs throughout market cycles or to maintain our focus on middle-market private credit where we’ve built great partnerships with sponsors and management teams. 2)     “It’s never as good as you think or as bad as it feels”: This is a favorite phrase of one of my mentors Jonathan Lavine and a reminder to remain rational, disciplined, and to structure our approach to navigate and capture opportunities of market dislocation when they occur. 3)     There is no age limit on good ideas: A long-term view on investing includes a long-term investment in talented young people. This means empowering our young professionals early in their careers by offering them a seat at the table and encouraging diversity of thought. An apprenticeship model is not only crucial for their professional development but often, it offers another way at looking at opportunities. I attribute so much of my career to the mentorship and exposure that I received early on. Thanks again to Julie Segal for hosting. It’s not often that we have the opportunity to look back at a career’s worth of lessons. Listen to our full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/eZErSqHT

This week, our joint venture with Staley Point Capital reached another milestone with the acquisition of a 78,000 square foot infill industrial property in San Diego. The transaction represents our third acquisition in the San Diego market in just the last three months. Recently, our colleague Darren Herman hosted 150 leaders from the east coast technology ecosystem at the Ardsley Country Club for the annual Silicon Alley Sports networking event and fundraiser. We were proud to support Darren and Silicon Alley Sports as they raised awareness and funds for Team Dayā ( दया), which builds primary schools to serve students in some of the most impoverished places around the world.    Darren launched Silicon Alley Sports in 2007, and the event has grown to contribute hundreds of thousands of dollars to local, national, and international nonprofit organizations.   Learn more about Silicon Alley Sports and its upcoming Silicon Alley Tennis Invitational on July 24, here: https://lnkd.in/gwwiRPwW
