Meet Cameron! Cameron is an Integration & Automation Specialist on our Product Team and has been at Awardco for 3 years next week! (Feel free to congratulate him on his upcoming service anniversary😊 )
"The most impactful experience I’ve had since working at Awardco was earlier this year. I had been working in my current role, doing Awardco Connect, for almost a year when I overheard one of those “bad news” conversations where a product manger had to tell a couple members of our client success team that they would not be moving forward with a feature that this client was hoping for. I went back to my desk and started brainstorming how I could use Awardco Connect to solve the problem that this client was experiencing. After a lot of searching, I found what I thought would be a possible solution and brought it to the product manager and their team. They signed off on my high level proposal, so I spent significantly more time doing technical discovery, architecture planning, and talking in depth with the client to understand the nuances of their problem to build a solution. In the end, Awardco Connect was able to solve their problem within the timeline the client was originally expecting. This experience is particularly impactful for me because it forced me to go out of my comfort zone with my technical skills in development and discovery that helped me grow a lot in a short amount of time."
A few fun facts about Cameron...
⭐ If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
If I could visit any place it would be around the border of Switzerland and Italy to ski the alps and then do some Italian cooking classes with my wife!
⭐ Who is someone you look up to?
Someone I look up to at Awardco is Mark Youngquist. Before starting at Awardco, I didn’t think I wanted to work in tech or SaaS at all because I planned on being a brand manager at a big CPG company, but after a few months here I realized how amazing it would be. In my first role on the Marketplace team, I worked very closely with Mark (product manager over ‘redemptions’ at the time) whenever I had ideas and feedback around our redemption offerings. After a while, I realized that Mark was doing a lot of work that I could see myself happily doing down the road, so I sat down to talk with him about what a PM was and how I could become one. Since that day, Mark has experienced significant growth in the company, earning awards like Awardco’s coveted “A-Team”, spearheading massive product launches like A-Pay, and all while continuing to offer me mentorship to help me get to where I want to be. That’s why I look up to Mark.
