Navigating in this world means having the technology tools and know-how to communicate with family members digitally, to arrange for health appointments through apps, and to take advantage of the wealth of online resources. Thank you AT&T and Human I-T for providing 250 free Chromebooks and technology education to Avenidas community members. For the past 43 years, John Sink has served as a dedicated leader, a generous teacher, and a cherished friend. His last day with Avenidas was July 31, 2024, and he looks forward to his next chapter of “full-time ranch work.” Always humble and gracious, John shares, “When I first joined the organization in 1982, I could not have imagined the experiences, professional growth, and meaningful relationships that lay ahead…I have had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most talented and dedicated individuals in human services. The collaborative spirit and unwavering commitment to excellence that permeates our workplace have been a constant source of inspiration for me.” Thank you, John, for your wisdom, wit, loyalty, and leadership which has contributed so much to Avenidas and the community we serve.

Avenidas is thrilled to welcome Yadira Aldana, our new Vice President of Programs. Yadira brings nearly 10 years of experience in long-term care services. Most recently, she was the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator of Channing House Continuing Care Retirement Community in Palo Alto, where she focused on operational services for almost 300 residents and 150 employees. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and social action at Palo Alto University, master’s degree in gerontology from San Francisco State University, and was a LeadingAge Larry Minnix Leadership Academy Fellow in 2023. She also serves as a board member for the nonprofit organization Conscious Touch Teams. Welcome, Yadira! #OneAvenidas
