😍 It was an absolute pleasure to speak with an awesome group of teachers and career advisors at the HerTechPath inaugural one-day event, DARE TO DREAM – STEM Careers for Girls. 💡 This event is designed to inspire young girls to explore exciting career opportunities using science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) skills. 🤯 Almost 200 students (all girls obvs) attended from across at least a dozen South Australian high schools. 🙌 Well done to all involved at HerTechPath and the incredible teachers for all the work you do inspiring confidence in young girls to explore science and tech based careers. 🍇 With Amanda Mader we showcased the Careers in viticulture and wine website and provided the teachers with some real-world examples of how technology and innovation is shaping the Australian wine industry. Today marks a significant win for our farmers with the signing of the Australia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and a Memorandum of Understanding on investment in agriculture with the UAE.  This development will promote investment in supply chains, and help producers and processors to diversify and create value-added products.   I joined the Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Trade Minister Don Farrell, who signed the CEPA, which will eliminate tariffs on over 99 per cent of Australia’s exports to the UAE by value and save our Aussie ag sector tens of millions of dollars every year.  Our government’s trade diversification agenda is securing outcomes for Aussie agriculture and our farmers.

I am humbled to have been nominated and awarded the Cellar Door Excellence award at Friday's Endeavour Group Margaret River Show gala lunch. I am so lucky to live and work in this amazing region in a job I love. Although this is a personal award I would like to acknowledge the collaborative efforts of my team I couldn't do what I do without them. While everyone watched the ponies today, this happened over in Margaret River 🥂🙏🏻💕 We live on opposite sides of the country & have led vastly different lives but will forever be united by the fact we had the incredible honour to have OAMs awarded to us on the same day last year to become the 6th & 7th women in wine ever given the honour. 🇦🇺 COMPARATIVE WINE LAW - AUSTRALIA Today, the students of the Master 2 - Wine and Spirits Law had the honor of welcoming Mr. Stephen Stern, lawyer and National Chairman of the IP Group at Corrs Chambers Westgarth and professor at the Monash University. A renowned expert in Australian wine law, Mr. Stern shared with us his unique experience and deep expertise in this field. This session gave our students the opportunity to better understand the specificities of Australian wine law, a rich and complex legal framework governing a growing and globally recognized wine industry. Together, we also examined the 2008 agreements between the European Commission and Australia, a major milestone for international wine trade and the protection of geographical indications. These inspiring discussions allowed us to compare legal approaches and broaden our international perspective on wine law. 🍷 We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Stern for this invaluable experience, which will undoubtedly enhance our training and deepen our understanding of the legal challenges in this sector on a global scale. Stoked to be back on home turf in the Riverland after my transfer to Nutrien Ag, Berri! Out in the field today doing bunch counts to assess frost impact, using NDVI mapping from early October to estimate the size of affected areas across the blocks. A simple yet important tool to be able to assist our growers with targeting their operations and budgeting for the remainder of the season.

With gender roles for men not being as defined as perhaps they once were, what does this mean for our rural men who grew up with certain ideas of 'what a man should look like?' Does how we talk about our blokes matter too? Whether that's whinging about our husbands who seem to always miss kids bath time... or on a broader societal level about what men should or shouldn't be? I'll admit, this is a tough issue for me to look at, on a women's-focused podcast, Ducks on the Pond. But if we're ever going to tackle two major killers in rural Australia; suicide and family violence, we need to have some tough conversations. This is a 2 part deep dive into two complex problems. In Part 1 we speak to Leila McDougall, producer of the movie "Just a Farmer," about gender roles, the pressures of generational farming, and our own roles as wives, mothers and daughters. Leila's also a farmer and mother in Tatyoon, in the western districts of Victoria.   Suicide rates amongst farmers in Australia is 94% higher than non-farmers. On average one farmer dies by suicide every 10 days. And it's mostly men. Complex or 'wicked' problems don't have simple answers or silver bullets. It takes everyone to look inward and outward to think 'where can I do better?' So, I'm thinking about how we can sometimes talk about our rural men.
