John Bernardoni, co-founder of the Summer Classic Film Series, said it best 👠✨ The enduring classic THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939), which just celebrated its 85th anniversary this week, closes out the Family Film Series on Sunday, 9/1! Like John, most of us have already fallen in love with this timeless technicolor film, thanks to countless television broadcasts and home video releases. But the Yellow Brick Road and those ruby slippers have never shimmered as brightly as they do on the Paramount screen in glorious 35mm. 🎟️ https://bit.ly/4bOeITh

About us
Originally opened as a vaudeville house in 1915, the historic Paramount Theatre has been a second home for generations upon generations of Austinites to gather, connect, and get inspired. The Paramount currently operates alongside the Stateside Theatre next door under the Austin Theatre Alliance (ATA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While we present hundreds of shows annually, the Paramount and Stateside Theatres are so much more than venues. The ATA reaches over 22,000 Central Texas students every year through award-winning Paramount Education programs both in classrooms and in the theatres; produces Moontower Just For Laughs Austin, one of the largest comedy festivals in the nation; hosts the star-studded world premieres of SXSW, Austin Film Festival, and beyond; programs the beloved Summer Classic Film Series, now in its 48th year; and works with experts to ensure the careful preservation of Austin history. The Paramount is one of only 20 theatres left in the entire country that is over 100 years old and still in use as a venue.

Happy retirement (and happy birthday) to Jody Denberg! 🥂 As he retires from full-time radio work, Austin's airwaves will feel his absence deeply (he's been on the air since 1981!). Jody's impact on the Live Music Capital is undeniable, as multiple generations have kept up with new music and happenings across the city to the tune of his unmistakable voice. "I don't know if I've ever met a bigger music lover than Jody," said Paramount music booker Zach Ernst, who first heard Denberg on KGSR in the 90s. "Anytime he comes to a show at the Paramount, you know it's a good one, and the artist backstage is likely dying to say hello to their old pal." "The voice of Austin music for four decades...No artist nor theatre has had a better friend than Jody Denberg." - Jim Ritts, Paramount Executive Director Thank you, Jody, for your remarkable contributions to our music scene, and your unforgettable introductions to so many classic shows onstage at the Paramount. Happy trails!
