    Quick hack for BDR's (or anyone who is making prospecting lists). My first week at Attention, I cold-called two customers.... oops. I then found out what Salesforce was, but wasted a lot of time manually looking for existing opportunities / current customers. The video below shows the cure! Once you've made your list in Clay, go to the Salesforce enrichment, and select lookup record. Our steps are here but may be slightly different for your CRM configuration. On a thousand-person list, I can filter out current customers / current opportunities in seconds. Happy hunting.

    I'm really going to regret saying this once AI has subjugated humanity... ... 😜 ... But, I really love the AI in our call recorder, Attention! There are many questions about how AI will change sales. Will AI outreach be more effective than the human touch? How will AI force sales to evolve? I don't know. What I do know though is that AI is making my sales life easier NOW. I've used many call recorders and really value their ability to record & transcribe a conversation. But Attention uses AI to create call notes (that are pushed to your CRM), next steps, & real-time coaching -- all tailored to your team's specific sales motion. It's new to me, but I'm already seeing the benefits. And one unexpected benefit is feeling more present during my calls. Why? Because there's a "second set of ears".  The "AI-ears" free me up mentally to listen, engage, and ask better questions. No doubt that AI will continue to change how we sell. But 6 months ago, I wouldn't have dreamed that AI would help me 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦. Pretty cool, if you ask me.     Taking a step back here to talk about why I joined Attention. Since my days as a high school debater, I have been incredibly bullish on AI. Some recent doubts have been cast surrounding the enormous capital costs that are needed to power the AI age, but I firmly believe it is the technology that will dominate the 21st century. When interviewing with Anis and Matthias, my questions mainly surrounded their thesis around AI. Immediately, I knew these guys were on the right track. They explained that we were not trying to beat Open AI or Anthropic, but rather optimize our queries for each best-in-class algorithm. In other words, when the world's best models improve, we do too. I immediately understood why Attention is the best-positioned company in the conversational intelligence space. Particularly, the ability to query insights in a chat GPT-like fashion across an entire conversational library particularly wowed me. Most importantly, it is this bedrock that best optimizes Attention for future growth; as this functionally improves, Attention's ability to serve enterprise clients does as well. I have not been disappointed thus far :)

    A great revenue leader once told me, your sales excellence depends on 3 things, and in this order: 🧠 Talent 🤝 Pipeline 📖 Enablement Hiring the right people is the single most important thing you need to focus on. I’ve been interviewing a ton of candidates, and here are 3 questions I ask to vet exceptional people: 1) Tell me about the 3 biggest mistakes or failures that you’ve had in your life, and how those pivotal moments led you to who you are today -> this helps me assess their level of honesty and ability to iterate and learn from mistakes. 2) Tell me about a time you hacked a system to your advantage (crediting YC) -> how scrappy are they? Can they detect arbitrage opportunities and take advantage of them? 3) Why didn’t you hit your target that month? -> Do they take ownership of their failures or do they put the blame on the org?
