It’s an exciting time at ATD Flight Systems, LLC! Thanks to our wonderful partners at The James A Gardner Company, Inc, the charter division at ATD Flight Systems, LLC is now poised for growth with the approval of our in-house training program for SICs. We are now fortunate enough to recruit from within through our pipeline of talented CFIs from our flight school division. Todd Lanham and Daniel Schrader are the first to graduate from our internal training program with two more incredible CFIs close behind. Our fleet is growing with the addition of N789KG and another jet going through conformity in the next 60 days (look out for that announcement soon!) And, honestly, we’re just getting started! Hiring and retaining pilots for private jets is a pain point for most jet owners these days. It's Day 19 of Appreciation April and today's shoutout goes to everyone's favorite Chief Flight Instructor and DPE, Andrew Waterland! Little backstory about Andrew. He came to ATD as a new graduate from K-State-Salina in June of 2006 and he just can't get enough of us! He's worked his way up the ranks at ATD while also furthering his career flying for companies such as Jay Wolfe and Airshare. Andrew got an early call the morning of April 20th with the storm news and hightailed it to the airport. When we say he did not lose his cool for one minute, we mean it! He was all business and even handled a TSA inspection that same day. We've since changed N6913F's tail number to N616AW; an homage to both N40616 (one of the fallen birds that was a favorite amongst students) and mister Andrew Waterland himself. We kindly ask that when you get the chance to fly 616AW, you yell out the airplane "Andrew Waterland is my hero!" Andrew, thank you for not only putting up with the Hays family for nearly 20 years, but for sticking with us through this nightmare. We can confidently say that we're stronger on the other side of this, but we would've never seen this side of things had you not stuck with us. You, good sir, are the backbone of ATD.

It's Day 18 of Appreciation April! Ok, yesterday was Day 18 but when you're in contract on three airplanes AND a Red Bird Simulator all at once, things get hectic! More to come on these new acquisitions soon! This shout out needs to be REAL loud for Revv Aviation. Revv has approximately a dozen locations and counting scattered throughout the country, with a heavy concentration in the Midwest. News of the Gustnado got around quickly and Lisa LaMantia of the Council Bluffs location got in touch with us that same day. "We'll find you airplanes" she said. It was all we needed to hear to feel a tremendous amount of pressure being lifted. Our goal was to get students and instructors back in the air as quickly as possible, THEN we could focus on rebuilding our fleet. Within five days, I repeat, FIVE DAYS, Lisa sent an email with the subject line "Revv aircraft going to KC" and listed a Cherokee, a Seminole and an Arrow. The tears started flowing when we read this. It was a lifeline and we will never forget the overwhelming feeling of relief knowing that we had such wonderful, gracious people in our corner helping us buy time. Lisa LaMantia, Guy Lieser, Peter Limberger (not pictured) and the entire team at Revv Aviation: you will go down in history books as the reason ATD was able to put the pedal to the metal and restore our fleet. The leasebacks afforded us the time we needed to do this, and we literally wouldn't be here today if it weren't for you. <3

It’s day 17 of Appreciation April and today’s shout out goes to…Jeffery Bolden! Jeff is a Captain at Delta Air Lines and the Founder of Red Tail Academy. His non-profit’s mission is to “help provide a clear and achievable pathway to underrepresented youth to the various opportunities available in aviation.” It’s a wonderful organization and we highly recommend you check them out! Jeff contacted us right away after the incident to see how he could help. He graciously offered leaseback options and it was such a lifeline when we only had one operating aircraft. It kept our students in the air and that was what we desperately needed. Jeff, you are such a wonderful part of our little aviation community.
