🚨 Ransomware attacks aren't random. They're precision strikes on your business. Cybercriminals research extensively, tailoring ransom amounts to each victim's financial capacity. These aren't amateurs. They use sophisticated manuals and business intelligence from sources like D&B and ZoomInfo. Their strategy? Make the ransom seem like the only viable option while increasing the likelihood of payment. For unprepared businesses, the pressure to pay and resume operations is overwhelming. Is your business prepared to face this growing threat? Learn more in our 2024 InsurSec report! https://lnkd.in/d2kxvk6c

The true cost of a cyberattack extends far beyond immediate losses. Adam Tyra, VP and GM of Security Services at At-Bay, recently shared some eye-opening insights on this topic, using the auto industry as a prime example. In June 2024, the dealer management system CDK was hit with back-to-back ransomware attacks. As a result, dealerships using the platform were unable to complete car sales. 💸 Immediate revenue loss? That's just the tip of the iceberg.  👎 Customer churn? Absolutely.  😣 Reputational damage? You bet. But here's what many overlook… Those customers who couldn't make a purchase due to system outages? They might never return. That's years of potential service revenue and repeat business... gone. In our interconnected digital age, robust cybersecurity isn't just an IT concern, it's a critical business imperative that can impact your bottom line for years to come. In 2023, 67% of ransomware attacks involved data exfiltration in addition to encryption. Attackers are doubling down to maximize payouts. Claims with both encryption and exfiltration had the highest median ransom demands at $600K, with payments averaging $195K. In contrast, encryption-only attacks resulted in median ransom payments of only $66K Attackers are evolving, and so must our security efforts. . Want to dive deeper?
