Heathcare for All. Advocacy for the Underserved.
About us
Asian Health Services, founded in 1974, provides health, social, and advocacy services for all regardless of income, insurance status, immigration status, language, or culture. Our approach to well-being focuses on "whole patient health", which is why besides primary care we also provide mental health, case management, nutrition, and dental care to more than 27,000 patients in English and over 12 Asian languages: Cantonese, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Mien, Lao, Mongolian, Karen, Karenni, and Burmese. We offer medical, dental, and mental health services for all ages. We also recognize that a patient's health is directly linked to their social and economic circumstances. That's why we are dedicated advocates, and we fight for legislation that make our communities a safer and healthier place to live.

AsAmNews covered the film debut of "Love Has Two Meanings" in the article "Unity is Strength: Oakland Chinatown Elders Tackle Public Safety." The short film follows 12 Chinese elders as they participated in the Community Safety Education Series organized by Asian Pacific Environmental Network and Asian Health Services. Each course included field trips to racial justice focused experiences such as the Black Panther Museum and San Quentin State Prison. Through these experiences, they explored the roots of crime and violence and gained insights into advocating for a safer, more inclusive community. AsAmNews also spotlighted the panel of the participants, who provided more context to their experiences. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gpp4fPyz.

Dr. Thu Quach, AHS’ President, presented in Louisville, Kentucky on the Mental Health Needs of AA&NHPI Youth at the National Asian Pacific American Caucus of State Legislators, comprised of over 200 state legislators from 37 states across the country. She underscored the importance of disaggregated data to identify disparities for specific ethnic youth in depression and suicidal ideation and the need for culturally-responsive, community defined strategies that address systemic barriers and stigma that impact under-utilization and under-diagnosis in the AA&NHPI population. Thank you to California Assemblymembers Assembly Member Phil Ting and Mike Fong for their ongoing support to address these mental health disparities. #HealthEquity #DataDisaggregation #MentalHealth
