October is #GaucherAwarenessMonth. Here's what you should know about #GaucherDisease: -CAUSE: Mutations in the GBA gene lead to deficiency of an enzyme that causes harmful waste buildup in the body’s cells, especially in organs. -TREATMENT: #Genetherapy is being studied as a one-time treatment to slow or stop disease progression by delivering a working GBA gene into cells using a viral vector. This allows cells to produce the GCase enzyme, which breaks down harmful waste. Want to learn more? We have free resources that you can read, watch, + share with your networks on our #PatientEducation site. https://lnkd.in/epn7uXeX

Thank you, BioPharma Dive, for including #ASGCT2025 in your list of top #biopharma conferences to watch next year! "ASGCT has grown with the cell and #genetherapy field, becoming a premier conference as the sector has expanded and treatments have advanced further into human testing. While much is still promising with such therapies, the difficulties companies face in successfully marketing them have made the meeting a health check for the sector as well." We can't wait to see so many of you in New Orleans in 2025! https://lnkd.in/gG-9NzE2

Raising Awareness for Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy: Every Day Counts While September 30th marked the official Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) Awareness Day, we believe that every day is an opportunity to educate and advocate for those affected by this rare group of genetic disorders. The prevalence of LGMD is unknown, but estimates range from one in 14,500 to one in 123,000. The age of onset can vary greatly even among individuals of the same family. Many are unfamiliar with LGMD and its challenges, and this lack of awareness can lead to delayed diagnoses, limited research funding, and insufficient support for patients and their families. To learn more about #LGMD, reference our graphic below and follow theCureLGMD2i Foundation! Want to learn more about the research being done for all types of #musculardystrophy? Join ASGCT and the Muscular Dystrophy Association at Breakthroughs in Muscular Dystrophy, Nov. 19-20 in Chicago or virtually. https://lnkd.in/gSEV5j9E
