When a team of people are united in their goal, you can feel the energy from them. And when one of them is celebrated, the love from the others is genuine. That was the environment on the Obstetrics Unit when nurse Christine Keegan was named as our newest Daisy Award Winner. A patient wrote that Chris did everything to support the couple as they welcomed their first child. From the big things like helpful education on the care of an infant, to the little things like wrapping a diaper around her water glass so it didn't get the table wet, Chris seemed to be everywhere at once. Always with a smile, always reassuring, Chris consistently makes every patient feel like the only patient. Her skills have been perfected over a career entering its 40th year. Thanks so much, Chris, for being there for countless new families!

“Their loved one mattered” Here at Arnot Health, our employees are evaluated annually on their Passion for the Mission, one of our 10 Core Competencies where we strive for our employees to act in accordance with company values and display an honest effort to give back and do good for others. Shannon Johnson, an RN in our ICU, shared a very personal experience that inspired her to create “comfort boxes” for the families of her patients on comfort care. Her thoughtful gesture and compassion has gotten her “Called Out” by her colleagues. She first started with providing families with heartbeat strips in little glass bottles. When that didn’t feel like enough support in these sensitive times, she began supplying an array of items including fingerprints and support pamphlets. Shannon’s efforts to give back and do good for others reinforce Arnot’s values as she works each day to show her patients that their loved one mattered and was cared for. Thank you, Shannon, for the passionate and valuable work that you do each day. This surprised looking lady is Nanerl Pierre, Clinical Assistant in Arnot Ogden Medical Center and our newest winner of the BEE Award for Being Extraordinary Everyday! An elderly patient was very upset, crying, and scared. She had many medical needs, but also one very basic human need - to get cleaned up. Nanerl walked into the room with the biggest smile and kindest gentle voice. She looked so professional and composed. She had fresh linens, towels, washcloths, and a gown for this patient. She knelt so she could be at eye level with the patient, put her hand on the patient’s and said, “I am here to help you with your bath if that’s ok with you.” The patient immediately calmed down and started to cry while saying “Thank you so much. That would be wonderful.” Her colleagues know this is exactly how Nanerl interacts with and takes care of every patient. She truly exemplifies all our values: Patients First; Excellence; Compassion; Teamwork; Integrity. Thank you, Nanerl!
