Lt. Col. Nate Jennings, PhD Department of Joint, Interagency, and Multinational Operations (DJIMO), presented “Sam Houston and the Wars of the Texas Republic” as part of the Command and General Staff College Department of Military History’s ‘People Making History’ series at the Leavenworth Public Library. The discussion explored how Sam Houston, first as the commander of the Texian Army and then as president of the Republic of Texas, conducted judicious and effective strategy formulation in the face of intense internal opposition and institutional challenges as the frontier nation grappled with a variety of Plains Native American and Mexican adversaries across divergent fronts. #CGSS #CGSOC #CGSC US Army | US Army TRADOC | U.S. Army Combined Arms Center

Educating and Developing our Army’s Uniformed and Civilian Leaders
About us
Welcome to Army University! It is an honor to serve our Army’s Soldiers and Civilians as part of an amazing team of professionals. The faculty and staff across the Army University enterprise care passionately about the education of our force and work tirelessly to ensure our people receive the credits, credentials, certifications and degrees they deserve. Army University’s primary role is to educate and develop our Army’s Uniformed and Civilian leaders. We cast a wide net, providing academic governance across the entire Army education enterprise. We ensure the currency and quality of the education that our Soldiers and Civilians receive, both in live classroom environments and in distributed learning venues. Ultimately we return agile, adaptive, and innovative leaders to the Army’s formations and to the institutional force who are capable of solving complex problems in a complex, dynamic, and ever-evolving world. Leaders who will ensure our Army can effectively shape the environment, prevent conflict, prevail in large scale combat operations and consolidate gains against peer threats in contested operating environments. Our CSA’s number one priority is the Army’s people, and our team of teams is working hard on several exciting initiatives which will benefit our Army’s professionals. We hope this pamphlet will whet your appetite to learn more about Army University and what we are doing for our Soldiers and Civilians. We invite you to reach out to us directly, or to the Army University team with any questions you may have.

U.S. Army divisions must cultivate agile formations that are ready to rapidly exploit fleeting opportunities that materialize when joint convergence is achieved. Within this effort, divisions must evaluate how they plan and synchronize operations internally and externally as part of the joint force. A celebration to welcome the end of the summer harvest occurred at the end of October. In the eighth century, the first of November was designated as a time to honor saints. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, which became Halloween and incorporated traditions from both the end of summer harvest and honoring saints. The Army University wants to wish everyone a Happy Halloween! #EducateToWin #TeamArmyU US Army | US Army TRADOC | U.S. Army Combined Arms Center

Ten members of Team 27, along with members of the Wargame Design MMAS program, participated in a voluntary game of Kriegspiel run by the Department of Simulation Education. This game, first designed by the Prussian Army in the middle of the 19th Century, forces students to make decisions in an information and time-constrained environment. Students learned the importance of anticipation, mission command, as well as clear/concise orders. #CGSS #CGSOC #CGSC US Army | US Army TRADOC | U.S. Army Combined Arms Center
