I am very excited to participate in the fourth ARIS cohort focused on enhancing organizational research impact capacity. We are strengthening ties between the Office of Outreach and Engagement and the Office of Research and Innovation at Texas Tech by combining forces with this amazing team: Anish Quenim, Jessica Spott, Allison Eubanks, and me. I am confident this will enhance our capacity to integrate societal impact into future grant proposals and address some of society's most wicked issues. ARIS Impacts

We have several open calls and invitations to submit letters of interest. Check out research opportunities in Quantum Geometry in 3D Materials and Neurobiology and Changing Ecosystems in partnership with National Science Foundation (NSF). Through our Science and Society program we have one for ethical considerations and public engagement into basic science research and another in communication and public engagement skill building sessions for Kavli Institutes. We invite you to take a look and share with a colleague. #science #scicomm https://lnkd.in/gT9_HbBC

There's a saying, “Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you will become.” I have some pretty amazing companions, and I hope their mojo rubs off on me! Honestly, I arrived feeling a bit discouraged. Often, the work can feel thankless. Thank you, ARIS, for taking such great care of us. I am leaving this engagement changed and invigorated, with a clearer understanding of my career goals and the impact I can make. I’ve gained new friendships and broadened my network. The diversity of experiences in the room was particularly impactful; a vice chancellor has a much different view of broadening research impact than a program coordinator, but all perspectives are valuable in understanding our challenges and opportunities. I look forward to connecting with the ARIS Impacts Fellows next week to begin drafting our report. Thank you to our 2024 ORIC cohort! This cohort came together to do the hard work of creating a #BroaderImpacts strategic plan for their institution. Now, they go back home to do the even harder work of implementing this plan! Thankfully, they won’t be alone. ARIS will be working with them closely to sustain their visions!
