About us

The word Nexus has Latin origins and means joining, binding, or connecting. Expanding on the idea of nexus or joining and connecting, we anticipate an expansion of the notion of a nexus as we "connect" with you our client, as we "connect" with new technology, creative design ideas, and better ways of expediting the design and construction process. Architectural Nexus has offices in Utah and California.

Just as the 2024 Olympic Games ended in Paris, so did the Salt Lake County Corporate Games. Team Architectural Nexus put up a fierce fight through a photo scavenger hunt, basketball, bowling, cornhole, darts, mini golf, pickleball, pistol shooting, volleyball, chess, and trivia. Corporations also host a blood drive and a food drive. Arch Nexus was pleased to contribute more than 670 pounds to the Utah Food Bank. Thanks for the great summer games Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation!

Architectural Nexus' Jessica Peterson has been named the 2024 "Architect of the Year" by Women in Architecture SLC, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the profession. As a Principal Architect since 2022, Jessica's background in architecture and mathematics informs her creative and analytical approach to architecture. Known for her calm leadership and mentorship, Jessica balances her professional achievements with her role as a mother of three. One of Jessica's notable projects is the Huntsman Cancer Institute Phase V at the University of Utah, a 12-story, 220,000-square-foot addition that earned LEED Gold certification and significantly expanded the hospital's capacity. As Project Architect, she managed a team of over fifty, played a crucial role in medical planning, and ensured the design met the needs of both staff and patients. Even after the project's completion, Jessica remains involved, participating in lessons-learned meetings to continuously improve healthcare design. Jessica’s leadership, dedication, and ability to mentor future architects make her a true trailblazer in the field!

🎉 Join us in celebrating the Salt Lake County Library at Daybreak who just received their Zero Energy certification!  A 27,000-square-foot building in Utah, the library was designed by Architectural Nexus in conjunction with Salt Lake County Library Services. The interior boasts highly utilized functions such as a maker’s space complete with a large variety of hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, the maker’s space opens to the outdoors to accommodate bike repair classes and other outdoor-friendly offerings. Throughout the vigorous community engagement process, the team received ample feedback that the building needed to be highly sustainable. The large photovoltaic array becomes a distinguishing feature to the building’s design, a provider of shade for pleasant outdoor rooms, and pushes the building along the path to achieving net zero energy. A thoughtful envelope design and using an innovative ground source HVAC system which does not use water are key elements to finding a harmonious balance between energy production and consumption on site. Congratulations to the whole project team on this exceptional accomplishment. Follow the link in the comments to learn more about achieving Zero Energy Certification on your next project! #ZeroEnergy #LivingFuture #ILFICertified Architectural Nexus
