The Social Equity Committee at Architectural Nexus has created a powerful, open-source toolkit to enhance community involvement in any design project. This toolkit combines elements from ILFI's Equity Petal, the AIA Framework for Equitable Communities, and SEED certification criteria. It provides a comprehensive resource for integrating community engagement and equitable thinking during pre-design and project goal formulation. Register for this presentation hosted by the International Living Future Institute on August 28th and join as Arch Nexus presents this innovative toolkit. Participants will earn 1 AIA LU Elective.
About us
The word Nexus has Latin origins and means joining, binding, or connecting. Expanding on the idea of nexus or joining and connecting, we anticipate an expansion of the notion of a nexus as we "connect" with you our client, as we "connect" with new technology, creative design ideas, and better ways of expediting the design and construction process. Architectural Nexus has offices in Utah and California.

Tim Thomas, encouraged by his architect father to pursue engineering, chose instead to follow his passion for architecture. He thrived in the rigorous University of Utah School of Architecture program. After gaining a variety of work experience, Tim partnered with respected former classmates, Steve Petersen and Jack Hammond, to form Thomas, Petersen, Hammond, which eventually merged into Architectural Nexus. Tim Thomas's legacy is marked by his commitment to mentoring the next generation of architects and his ability to foster lasting client relationships through his meticulous attention to detail and his personable nature. His influence at Architectural Nexus continues to inspire and shape the firm, leaving a lasting impact on our architectural community. Thank you, @AIAUtah for capturing this interview with Tim!

Westbrook Elementary School was a project with a challenging timeline. Through effective collaboration, the team completed the project, meeting all design, schedule, and cost requirements while also creating a sustainable space with an environment conducive to modern education and community involvement. The Structural Engineers Association of Central California (SEAOCC) recognized the project's merit, naming it the Award of Excellence in the New Construction (Medium) category. Congratulations Degenkolb Engineers and Clark/Sullivan Construction!
