About us

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is the Roman Catholic Church for 19 counties in western and southwestern Ohio. The church is currently led by His Excellency Dennis M. Schnurr, Archbishop. The Province of Cincinnati also includes the Dioceses of Cleveland, Columbus, Akron, Steubenville, and Toledo, each of which are led by their respective bishops. Through hundreds of parishes, schools, hospitals, agencies and institutions, the Archdiocese proclaims and follows the teachings of Christ that lead to peace, joy and the fullness of life. This local church of almost half a million Catholics, founded as a diocese in 1821, is strong in faith and rich in tradition.

  • EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ✨🔦 Meet Wayne Topp! As a Development Officer in the Stewardship Department, Wayne spends most of his time interacting with supporters of the annual Catholic Ministries Appeal. He finds joy in discovering the unique ways God has blessed each donor. Wayne sees it as his mission to help donors recognize how their financial gifts can foster deeper trust in the Lord across all areas of their lives. Wayne and his wife, Marianne, have been married since 2004 and recently celebrated the arrival of their eighth child—five boys and three girls. In their free time, they stay busy with family activities, youth sports and spontaneous adventures. Wayne also enjoys baking, running, hiking, playing music and staying active with his family.

    EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ✨🔦 Meet Father David Sunberg! As Director of Priestly Formation for the archdiocese, Father Sunberg supports the spiritual and professional growth of the clergy, coordinating their continuing education, retreats, sabbaticals, days of renewal and convocations. Though he’s at the Pastoral Center just one day a week, his responsibilities reach much further—serving as spiritual director for seminarians at Mt. St. Mary Seminary & School of Theology, and guiding the formation of men preparing to be ordained as permanent deacons.

  • Yesterday the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Pastoral Center attended their annual Reflection Day focusing on Eucharistic Missionary Disciples. 🙏 Father Matthew Summe L.C., Managing Director of College and Young Adult Evangelization in the Center for the New Evangelization, and Father Jacob DuMont L.C., Deputy Superintendent of Catholic Identity and Faith Formation in the Catholic Schools Office, presented to the pastoral center employees. Thank you to the Center of New Evangelization for organizing the day this year!

  • EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ✨🔦 Shane is the Managing Director for Parish Evangelization in the Center for the New Evangelization (CNE), where he leads the Parish Support Team in forming, equipping and coaching parish evangelists. Before joining the Pastoral Center staff in 2020, Shane spent ten years working in youth and campus ministry in Dayton. Shane resides in Dayton with his wife, Jenna, a religion teacher at Chaminade Julienne High School, and their children. They are active members of the Holy Spirit Family of Parishes. Shane has a strong devotion to both Scripture and the Eucharist. In his free time, he enjoys playing board games with family and friends, and tries his best to keep up on the soccer field with young adults every Sunday night.

    EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ✨🔦 Meet Marty Arlinghaus!  Marty serves as the Director of Prison Ministry, leading a dedicated team of volunteers in bringing the Gospel and the love of Our Lord to those imprisoned and in greatest need of mercy. With a rotation of priests, they ensure that the incarcerated receive the grace of the Sacraments and ongoing formation. Marty began volunteering in prison ministry in 2013 and assumed the role of Director in 2019. Under his leadership, the Serenelli Project was born—a monastic prison re-entry community that provides recently released Catholics a place in the Church to pursue a contemplative religious vocation. Marty and his wife have three children and belong attend Mass at St. Cecilia's. They enjoy dancing, hosting gatherings and living their vocation of marriage and family life to the fullest.

    EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ✨🔦 Meet María García Gallegos! María is the Associate Director of Hispanic Evangelization. She received her Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the International Marian Research Institute at the University of Dayton in 2019. Her dissertation focused on the women of the Old Testament and their connection to Mary of Nazareth. Originally from Mexico, María has been a member of the Catholic Church since she was 40 days old. She was happily married for 38 years until the death of her beloved husband, Enrique, on February 16, 2022. She has two children, Diego and David, and currently resides in Dayton. María serves the Hispanic communities in Dayton and the northern counties of the archdiocese. She recently organized the first Hispanic women’s retreat sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. María’s favorite saint is St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

    EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ✨🔦 Meet Andy Zerhusen! Andy joined the Catholic Schools Office as the Assistant Director of Faith Development, where he will serve principals, teachers and campus ministers, helping them strengthen the Catholic identity within our schools. Prior to serving the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Andy spent 13 years as a high school religion teacher and coach, and served two years as an assistant principal at St. Monica Catholic School in the Diocese of Dallas, TX. Most recently, he was the Director of Mission Integration and Catholic Identity at Seton High School, back in his hometown of Cincinnati. Andy and his wife, Amy, are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary this year. They reside in Villa Hills, KY, and are members of St. Agnes Parish. They enjoy traveling, especially exploring America’s National Parks.

    EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT ✨🔦 Meet Denise Jasek! She recently joined the Center for the New Evangelization as Associate Director for Adult Evangelization and Pastoral Ministry. She supports evangelists and pastoral ministers in their roles to renew and grow parishes, with a focus on growing missionary disciples and fostering opportunities to encounter God. She finds joy in accompanying others on their faith walk and fostering intimacy in prayer, especially alongside our Eucharistic Lord and Blessed Mother Mary. Denise and her husband, Chris, are blessed with five grown children. New empty nesters, they enjoy hiking, camping, and birding together.
