DID YOU KNOW? 🤔 People with disabilities are the only population in the United States that can legally be paid less than minimum wage. APSE is committed to phasing out Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA), which allows subminimum wages. The APSE community works to advance competitive integrated employment (CIE). This means that all workers, including those with disabilities, should be compensated fairly for their labor and should have the opportunity to work and interact with people without disabilities in their community. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! This year’s theme is “Access to Good Jobs for All.” National Disability Employment Awareness Month was created in 1988 and continues to support individuals with disabilities and employers in increasing the number of people with disabilities participating in the workforce. This month, APSE will be sharing employer resources, APSE member success stories, and recaps of NDEAM events from across our chapters. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating NDEAM 2024 and share your insights and tips to help us in our pursuit for good jobs for all.
