    Diabetes mellitus in cats and dogs is commonly seen in general practice, and one where diagnosis and treatment can greatly improve the quality of your patient’s life. In part one of this free 1-hr webinar, Orla Mahony, M.V.B., DACVIM, DECVIM shares how she manages dogs and cats with diabetes mellitus. Dr. Mahony will review the causes of diabetes in dogs and cats, remission in diabetic cats, the goals of treatment, insulin choices for dogs and cats, insulin administration, and dietary considerations. Stay tuned for part two, where we’ll go over monitoring glucose and SGLT2 inhibitors for cats.

Achieving good glucose control for these patients can significantly improve their quality of life In part one of this series, we reviewed dietary management, insulin treatment, and proper administration. In part two of this free 1-hour webinar, Dr. Orla Mahony, M.V.B., DACVIM, DECVIM, shares her methods for monitoring diabetic glycemic control in dogs and cats. She will also introduce attendees to the use of the newly approved sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitors (SGLT2i) for diabetic cats.
