Dedicated to breaking down the barriers that limit a woman’s choice to pursue and thrive in both career and motherhood.

About us

Building on the momentum of the #DreamMaternity movement, a call for action and awareness around the lack of sponsor support for female athletes choosing to become mothers during their athletic careers, &Mother was founded in 2020 to transition the movement to impact across industries. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, &Mother is dedicated to breaking down the barriers that limit a woman’s choice to pursue and thrive in both career and motherhood. Our first initiative centers on creating cultural and structural change within the Sports Industry. Join the community on Instagram and Twitter and connect with us at www.andmother.org

“We need to really make sure that these are not battles that women or mothers are fighting alone,” -- Alysia Montaño Standardizing language in sponsorship contracts that protects and supports pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and parental leave is a key piece of the puzzle for gender equity in sports.  At &Mother, in partnership with Oiselle, we’re taking our first steps towards better standards with the release of our *Model Sponsorship Contract Provisions for Pregnancy and Parental Leave* -- a recommended best practice for contractual language that supports and protects sponsored athletes to and through their parenting journey. https://lnkd.in/gktetSu4 Thank you Barbara Rodriguez and The 19th for your excellent coverage of the problem AND solution!

Athletes don’t have pregnancy protections. Here’s why that could finally change.

This is what we love to see as we're scrolling LinkedIn, great job Deloitte

Take a bow Deloitte, who've announced they will be (equally) giving new Mums and Dads 26 weeks fully paid leave! 👏 👏 👏 The accountancy firm made this decision based on research that showed: 🚼 Nine out of ten (87%) working parents say family leave is a major factor when choosing an employer. 🚼 Over half of working mothers (57%) have had to reduce working hours because of their co-parent’s workplace inflexibility. 🚼 More than half (54%) of working parents say they would consider leaving their jobs for improved work-life balance. Hopefully other firms will follow suit and one day maybe even the government?! Great to see such a bold leap forward! #parentalleave #employeeengagement #equalityatwork #workingparents

This is so much more than just a fridge of liquid gold at INBOUND 2024. It represents: - Dozens of women in tech having the access they need to not only show up for their careers but also for their families. - Companies like HubSpot and Mamava having the foresight to create a comfortable, private space for us to pump—because supporting working moms means more than just providing a seat at the table. - Babies being nourished with milk - schlepped through airports and long car rides. - Spouses, partners, au pairs, nannies, and extended family stepping up to provide care while mom is away—because it truly takes a village. - Loving moms who are deeply committed to both their families and their careers, showing that we can pursue our passions and care for our little ones at the same time. There’s still work to be done when it comes to supporting women and parents in the workforce, but seeing this is a step in the right direction. I’m proud to be part of the momentum. #INBOUND2024 #womenintech

Can we be both? Is that a question we should still be asking?  Apparently, we still do... “If we show emotion, we’re called dramatic. If we want to compete with men, we’re nuts. If we dream of equal opportunity, we’re delusional. And if we aspire to be both athletes and mothers, well, that’s just crazy.” These are the words of world champion Alysia Montaño, who famously ran while eight months pregnant and fought tirelessly to create maternity leave legislation for women athletes. As women, we are not confined to being just mothers or career professionals; we embody a diversity of dreams and should have the freedom to pursue them all. Alysia Montaño's groundbreaking efforts have paved new paths for women athletes. Alongside Montaño's efforts, we hear names such as Kara Goucher and Allison Felix. At the current Olympics, Nada Hafez and Yaylagul Ramazanova are making history by competing while pregnant, challenging traditional views of motherhood in sports. Their journeys exemplify that motherhood and athletic excellence can coexist, inspiring future generations of women to pursue their passions without compromise. Here's to the strength, courage, and dedication of all mothers out there! 💪👶 Check the first comment for a link to Alysia Montaño's short film about her inspiring journey. The ripple effect is real. During this year's Olympic Games in Paris, there was a huge spotlight on the accomplishments and accommodations for mothers who were competing. This hasn't always been the case and while we're overjoyed to see the progress, there is still so much work to be done to achieve the gold standard of support for mothers who decide to continue thriving in sport while growing their family.

Znacie te nazwiska? Alysia Montaño? Kara Goucher?  Allyson Felix? Adrianna Sułek-Schubert?

📢 Exciting News! At Milk Stork, we believe in empowering breastfeeding parents across all walks of life, including the high-intensity world of professional sports. That’s why we’re thrilled to kick off #BreastfeedingAwarenessMonth with this special announcement of our partnership with @andmother, an organization founded by Olympian and mom Alysia Montaño, dedicated to creating a more equitable sporting culture for all athletes, especially those who choose to breastfeed. Professional athletes who breastfeed face significant obstacles, from physical demands to lack of support systems. Many are forced to pump-and-dump during competitions or wean earlier than planned. Just like Milk Stork has done to champion working parents in corporate America, &Mother is breaking down barriers and providing essential resources for female athletes, ensuring they can balance their professional and personal lives. Want to learn more? Dive into the full story and discover how you can support breastfeeding athletes. Read more about this exciting new partnership! https://bit.ly/3X3jQOR
