Leading our Nations back to ecological and cultural well-being through conservation projects for native young adults.

About us

Our vision is to lead our Nations back to ecological and cultural well-being by engaging Indigenous youth and young adults in conservation service programs that reconnect participants to the land, their cultural heritage, and their traditions. We work to remove barriers to participation, education, and employment by partnering with local community organizations, agencies, and institutes of higher learning to create paid service and career training opportunities, personal and professional development, and pathways to postsecondary education and employment.

  • As the ALCC Hiking Club sessions have concluded for our Acoma & Gallup offices, We'd like to share a compilation of their adventures within the State of New Mexico. Historically the Hiking club's goals are to create meaningful experiences for Indigenous youth to explore historically significant locations around the state. Throughout these sessions and journeys hiking club participants are able to gain a deeper understanding and relationship with our ancestral lands and lifeways. We like to give our sincerest thanks to those who made this year's Hiking club a blast! Our staff who helped with planning, to our Hiking club leaders for guiding the youth and braving the heat! This season would not be possible without the Outdoor Equity Fund grant we received from the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division. Their Outdoor Equity Fund supports our aforementioned goals which allowed us to hire Hiking Club crew leaders early to allow adequate time to build an impactful program by creating lesson plans, identifying learning objectives, and building relationships with project partners. We are super appreciative of the opportunity to be selected. Check out their programming at https://ow.ly/66UO50T1Iy4 or New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division on socials.

  • As the Wood For Life (WFL) Firewood distribution wraps up their field season. Swipe through the incredible work they've been able to accomplish so far. Both crews from Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) and Arizona Conservation Corps (AZCC) have been braving the elements since March to stockpile for distributions. Thanks to our WFL staff; WFL Program Director, Marshall Masayesva and WFL Communications Coordinator, Mariah Holiday for generating this report. If you did receive firewood from the distributions. We are requesting the completion of a short survey for feedback and future improvements. That survey can be found here. https://lnkd.in/g2nT8sSd ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ 2024 “Wood For Life” Spring Firewood Season Report📋 ⤵️ Crews from both ALCC and AZCC worked through the snow/heat beginning in March to produce firewood that will be ready to burn this winter. 🪵Crews processed 203.68 cords and treated 20 acres for fire mitigation! This Spring we focused on providing firewood for individual households. We plan to shift that focus to processing for our local partners and engaging volunteers to serve those in most need this Fall. 🏡WFL provided firewood to 311 households throughout Navajo and Hopi. The project primarily focuses on communities directly affected by the shut down of Peabody Coal Mine and we have plans to expand the project in the future! 🔥Firewood is the primary heat source for 98% of our applicants during the Winter season.
