Dr. Emily Hanka says it was her dream to specialize in rural family medicine and delivering babies. She’s been care for patients at Amery for just over a year now, and it already feels like home. We want to extend a warm welcome to Isaac Christenson, who has joined our Amery Hospital & Clinic Board of Directors. Isaac knows Amery very well! He’s a graduate of Amery High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Isaac currently works as an agricultural and commercial banker with Pillar Bank in Clear Lake. Isaac lives in Amery and is very involved in our community, including serving on the Foundation Board of Trustees for the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and participating in the Camp Wapo Dinner Theater. Our birth center team knows when to step back and let a family bond, but we’re always ready to step in and help so parents can get the rest they need. If you ask Amy Elmer and her husband, Chad, they’ll tell you our team walked that line perfectly. The family had their third baby boy in May. All of their children were born at our birth center. “This is where we receive all of our medical care,” Amy says. “Our past experiences were positive, so there was no need to make any changes. Throughout these pregnancies, our care teams were good to work with and provided thorough care and answers to any questions we had.” The Birth Day Suites and the care team created a comfortable environment that the Elmer family really appreciated. “The OB nurses were great! The numbers from Amery Hospital & Clinic Foundation’s 36th Annual Golf Classic & Fundraiser are impressive: More than 75 golfers, 40 volunteers, 23 incredible sponsors and more than $35,000 raised for community health programs! It was a picture-perfect day and all our amazing supporters teed it up and knocked it a proverbial 300 yards down the middle. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who made the day a smashing success!
