This week, our firm hosted 30 veteran scholars from The Posse Foundation Veterans Program. The Posse Veterans Program identifies, trains and supports military veterans who are interested in pursuing bachelor’s degrees at top colleges and universities. Each veteran scholar in attendance had received a full-ride scholarship from Case Western Reserve University, the University of Virginia or Texas A&M University. The event was an opportunity for those in the program to engage and network with other student veterans from the local area. In addition, each veteran scholar received targeted coaching and career advice from our own staff of Wall Street professionals and military veterans. Last week saw the new issue calendar have super quiet week with the July 4th holiday. This week’s estimates are calling for $15Bln of new supply. We will get key inflation data as CPI & PPI will report later in the week. Earnings for the Big Six Money Center Banks will kick off starting on Friday as JPM, Wells Fargo and Citi will report with Goldman Sachs on Monday and Morgan Stanely and Bank of America on Tuesday next week with the rest of the market to begin releasing 2nd Quarter Earnings reports. Action-packed week with Chair Powell’s semiannual testimony, CPI, PPI, Claims, long end US Treasury supply, and the continued evolution of the events around the election. And the beginning of earnings season. The data in the United States has clearly slowed and with softer inflation in tow. Yet, it will take more time for the Fed to feel comfortable to lower rates. Last week, our President and Vietnam Prisoner of War, Bob Jones, was honored at the New York Mets game for his military service. Mr. Jones is a 1965 West Point graduate and U.S. Air Force veteran. He deployed to Vietnam, where he flew the F-4 Phantom and accumulated more than 80 combat missions over North Vietnam and Laos. On January 18, 1968, his plane was shot down, forcing him to eject over enemy territory where he was held as a Prisoner of War (POW) for 62 months. Mr. Jones was released during Operation Homecoming on March 14, 1973, after 1,882 days in captivity. Globally, it's setting up to be a very dynamic second half of 2024. On markets monetary policy is in a back seat to the upcoming elections, as we've written over time. We do believe economic data will align for the Fed to begin lowering rates. It is likely to be unorthodox and a sign of the times and this entire cycle. This week we have the Bank of England with a looming election ahead. In the US, the focus will be on Retail Sales tomorrow. Our team recently hosted a Service Day at the Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship Ranch in upstate New York. This is the third year our team has volunteered with the program, providing support for the Veteran’s Barn, a separate barn for the veteran's program to utilize. This year, our team painted the barn and in previous years, our volunteers set up a flagpole, built an outdoor area complete with picnic tables and laid a stone walkway.
