  • A Message from the American Conference on Diversity: For many years The American Conference on Diversity (ACOD) was one of very few voices speaking about social justice, diversity and inclusion. Now it seems that there are many more. Early on, the American Conference on Diversity was dedicated to building just and inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities through awareness, education, and advocacy. The nonprofit organization was founded in 1948 as the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Its programs, services, and initiatives were among the most important work focused on creating a more inclusive society. We always felt our work was the unfinished business of living in a highly diverse nation: educating and empowering our next generation of leaders, enhancing our workplaces, and helping to create inclusive communities. However, as time has passed, our society has become more aware of these inequities. Others including colleges and universities, corporations, government agencies and entrepreneurial organizations have taken up the work. Therefore, the Board of the American Conference on Diversity felt that it was time to turn the work over to those who were bringing new commitment to the cause. We want to thank those individuals and foundations who have donated to support this wonderful work over the years. Thanks also to those who have served on the Board and committees, those who have volunteered to run our programs, and those corporations, school systems, and municipalities who have used our services over the years. The struggles of keeping the organization going during the pandemic and during a time of financial constraints took a toll. As a result, we will be closing operations on August 31, 2023. There are active conversations going on regarding transitioning key programs. We will keep you informed as to developments. Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/eP_VbkCM
